The little silver button that varies the brightness of the stack and resets the odometer is playing up.... it does neither of the latter anymore but my odometer now resets itself every time I turn the engine off and on again. Has this happened to anybody else? Loose connection possibly? Is it easy to get to if I remove the cowling to the steering column thingy ma bob? Bloody gremlins! Cheers, Stuey

steering wheel off to remove that cowling. only takes a few minutes once you get the hang of it though.

I know this sounds a bit daft... but should I be worried about the airbag? I'm guessing not. Is it easy to do?

Best to unplug the battery before doing anything with the airbag imo.

disconnect the battery negative terminal and leave it for 10mins then theres just two allen caphead bolts holding it in. then you pull a piece out of the connector and it just 'comes off in your hand' then 4 allen capheads holding wheel on (remember what orientation it was in) remove wheel and disconnect horn wires or dangle it out of the way. then there are 2 screws facing you on the cowl, 2 screws each side near the stalks, and then 2 screws and a plastic clip underneath. the 2 front screws are countersunk.

Maybe mine is different but my cowl is in 2 parts upper and lower, 2 scews on each side hold them together and 3 screws underneath hold the whole thing on the steering column. Getting the bottom half off where the button sits is a doddle. I reckon you will end up resetting the dash as I doubt the button is the problem.

Nope, it's split horizontally so half the hole where each stalk comes out is in each half. Unusually convenient when it comes to taking it to bits.
