1989 - you read it right!1989 or 1999 ? Six gees seems a lot of cash for a fifteen year old Golf, but I'm no expert I'll admit.

I knew someone would pick up on that.
There is a huge demand for the LHD Golf rallye within Dub circles - they have an almost legendary status. Many people say that the R32 is the best Golf since the rallye. It was built in limited numbers (5000) and only 65 of these were UK spec (but still LHD). Prices obviously stayed high in the early days, but then people started importing them from Germany and flooding the market. In fact, it is said that some Germans are even coming over here to take them back.
One thing to remember about Mk2 Golfs is that prices are high as demand is high. Good, late MK2s can go for £5k - in fact there's a J-plate for sale now at £6k. A rough rallye will set you back £2k, but prices can reach £11k! Mine is probably underpriced!!!!

I doubt for one minute I'll find a buyer on this site, but hopefully word might get out to a Dub fanatic!

In the Golf I'm known to one of my friends as "A star in a reasonably overpriced car". Nuff said.

Those rallye beasts sure are as cool as hell. Interested by your comment here as I've still got a Mk2 Golf, have been thinking about selling it but the prices of these things vary massively. One thing to remember about Mk2 Golfs is that prices are high as demand is high. Since you seem to be more in touch with golf cricles still, what does the average '88 Mk2 8v at 102k and a bunch of mods (no engine mods) go for?
cheers

The MK2s fetching the highest prices are original, unmodified examples. The £6k I quoted was for an Oak Green J plate which as you know is highly coveted. Without seeing it and based on the information you provided, I guess you'd be looking at between £2 and £2.5k? Does that seem realistic to you?

Prices have dropped considerably since then unfortunately. Imports have flooded the market, although UK spec cars still command a few more pounds!Wow, that cheap.
My mate paid 11 grand for his rallye a few years ago.
I think he sourced it from either Awsome GTI or Dubsport.
You should put a pic up to show people who have never seen one of these things what they look like.
4WD, supercharged with big flaired arches.....one of the ultimate rally cars
Average prices are approximately £4k to £6k - although one is up for £10k at the moment, but it has only done 11k miles!

Had a call last night within minutes of it going on Club GTi website!!! Bloke coming down from Oxford at weekend.
I know I'll regret it in the short term, but I can always get another one - and besides the next LHD, 4WD, flared arch machine would have to be an Integrale!

Hope pic works - not the best angle unfortunately - I think there's some more in my gallery if anyone is interested in seeing it.
