Anyone tried this? Comprises: Briefing Car control in Caterham One-to-one instruction in Elise Lunch Afternoon lapping in own car with "constructive debriefs" Not cheap at £350 but presumably some quality instruction and a chance to drive the GP circuit. I'm looking at 31 March. Grateful any comments. cheers

Sounds just what I need after all my recent offs. £350 sounds reasonable to me. I would like to know more.....

exjagman,
All I have is:
*** Advanced Performance Driving Course ***

Advanced Performance Driving Courses are now growing in popularity at the Silverstone Racing School. They present the opportunity for owners of cars suitable for circuit use to learn new skills and perfect their driving technique at a very affordable price and offer so much more than just a 'Trackday'. During the morning participants use the schools cars to practice car control and to receive one-to-one personal instruction. Once up to speed, its out on to one of our main circuits in their own car for "trackday" style lapping sessions where they can explore the limits of the car and themselves. Each track session is backed up with advice and instruction from our team of top driver coaches.

* Circuit driving briefing
* Car Control in Caterham
* One-to-One Instruction in a Lotus Elise
* Lunch (normally packed lunch)
* Four Own Car Lapping Session with constructive debriefs

6-Feb-04, Grand Prix Circuit
31-Mar-04, Southern circuit - fastest of all the Silverstone configurations, drive through Ireland from Abbey to Becketts, which is an awesome experience.

Normally days begin at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 5 p.m.

Cost £350 Inc VAT per car and one driver

Phone: 01327 320412
Email: Daniel.Whittemore@brandshatchcircuits.co.uk (I have no idea where I got this from but I seem to be on their mailing list!!)

cheers

I did the one day 'Race Intensive Course' which I think is similar, except the lapping in the afternoon is done in one of their single seaters - not your own car. It's about £400 (could be 450 can't remember) If you're going for the tuition my advice is not to bother. I learned next to nothing - and I've got a lot to learn! I felt like complaining 'cos they bill it as a training day. :9mm: Good fun in the single seaters tho' Would be interesting to hear any views on this kind of course - which are worth doing and which are glorified corporate entertainment...I'd love to hone my skills - but don't want to chuck my money away. (could've bought a decent back box for that money :beat: )

I certainly fancied the Caterham and Elise drives. Is 1st Lotus a better deal?

The worst instruction I ever had was at Silverstone. The guy was useless. I'm sure he was a very capable driver, but he was a shite teacher. I'm a bit put off this course for that reason. And it sounds like others have had similarly bad experiences.

Glad it wasn't just me - :)

I had a 'taster' of the Johnny Herbert thing at Rockingham, and drove a 111s and wrx round one of the infield circuits for a couple of hours.

The day is aimed squarely at the corporate market, but the advice I recieved in those two hours was far better than the whole of the SRS day. Imnotworthy

They were trying to sell their services and I haven't been as a paying guest, but from what I saw it looked like a top day out.

Might be worth a try...
