Shameless plug :D but
http://www.vx220.org...t=0#entry741890
you can buy a 1.7 Puma in good condition for £1,966
I'm probably too far from where you are but its a nice drive back.

Like the others have said its certainly worth considering a Puma, they really have got good handling and you feel the back come into play helping you around corners.

Polo/Lupo/Arosa 1.4TDI (The early of the VAG TDi PD Engines)

75BHP Standard. Remap to 105BHP if you need. Very nippy, incredibly economical (65MPG+), Free or £35/yr Tax, Stupidly cheap to insure and engines that would survive a bomb blast!!

Heres a random example: http://search.autotr...mp;max_mileage=

Now wheres my prize!? :P

Good Choice

I had a petrol sport arosa, cracking little car thats alot safer than its french rivals. Budget for coilovers, a bit rolie polie around the rear end.

I'm 6'4"

I think I'm leaning toward the Starlet Turbo actually.

You will have no problems in a lupo/arosa, they only compromised on the rear space of the car (especially the boot).

isn't the recent Golf Gt a 1.4 but with plenty of poke due to various tricks etc doubt you could get one for £2.5k though but worth a try?
