Then cover with a heat proof paint
Is the rear subframe classed as part of the chassis - the vx comes with a ten yer warranty on chassis corrosion

I can check if you likeI was told that sand blasting the galvanised Subframe coating off saves over 2.5kg+ in weight too (so I've been told!)

If you're applying straight onto the existing partially galvanized surface you'd be best using something like this first
the tvr boys, waxoil and then hammerite their rusty bits. maybe a slight variation could be a red-oxide primer and then hammerite.
i suspect the original galv would have been hot dipped but if you prepped the subframe and then galvafroided it it may be ok?
