Just been on LoT and contemplating a European track day/trip, was wondering if anyone will be attending?
Also being fairly new to this what would i need to take; Track Insurance, European car cover, basic tool kit, etc?
Don't know about attendees. There has been plenty written about insurance. It will be even more difficult/expensive out of the UK. Breakdown cover is essential, given the costs repatriating a broken car. I don't carry tools, the VX is too complex for a simple set to be much good. LoT frequently have cover at the circuit and you are in good company if you do have a problem.

My Heritage insurance policy apparently gives me cover for European LoT trackdays as well as the UK based LoT days, which is a cracking result. I wouldn't have bothered with seperate insurance for it, if I wasn't already covered. It looks like a safe track with not a lot to hit.
As Partridge said, breakdown/repatriation cover is more vital. I did a bit of looking around over the weekend and I've decided to go with Europ Assistance annual cover (I'm at Abbeville in October as well) for £89 which is cheaper than extending my AA UK cover. You can actually buy the same Europ Assistance breakdown policy from QuoteLineDirect for £59 but this ommits the personal travel insurance bit of it. My ADAC membership and annual travel policy have both expired so this seemed to be the perfect replacement.

I'll be there, as will VIX (and another VX by the look of the attendees). Looks like an interesting little track and it's an absolute bargain.

I'm also thinking about this track day
If you have cover via Heritage don't you also have European breakdown & repatriation cover. Could be mistaken but I'm sure my Heritage policy includes this (will check tomorrow)

Ooh, thanks for that Paul, I'll dig out my paperwork and check.

Though knowing my luck, I'll have tried to be clever and save £20 by opting out of taking up the cover.

Thanks for you all for your feedback.
Just got to sort out my little fuel leak then i'll be booking it...
will you be heading down on the friday? and would you be heading back on sunday?
Ah, I hadn't realised you were another Bedford VX'er. Good man.

Yep, VIX and I have got a Speedferries crossing from Dover to Boulougne on the Friday afternoon at 14:20 and decided on the Sunday 17:10 return crossing. Gives us plenty of time for a leisurely lunch on the Sunday and Reims is only an hour down the road if a photo op is required on the old GP circuit. Staying at the IBIS St Quentin where most of the LoT people seem to be staying.
Looks like Dynamo has also booked in for Clastres, so there'll be a nice little contingent of VX's there to keep all of the others honest.

I've just been on to Heritage (Norton Insurance) and it's an additional £25 pa for the recovery service. I'm still undecided in going for Heritage which is about £45 pa more than AutoTorque but includes unlimited Club trackdays (whether LoT or vx220.org) in the UK or Europe but I'd have to pay £62 a go for eg Goldtrack or stick with AutoTorque who will cover Goldtrack but not Europe. My insurance is due for renewal on Friday! Decisions, decisions!Ooh, thanks for that Paul, I'll dig out my paperwork and check.

Finally got my ferry booked (what a palaver), can’t wait now!
Good man.

Those voucher books make really good financial sense. I know MartinS has had to pay nearly double what it's cost us for the same crossings as he's paying the regular way (and left it relatively late).
Sounds like there may be some manouvering issues when it comes time to disembark the Speedcat. So, we might need to stick together come loading time as at least we'll be expecting to have to shuffle backwards and forwards to make the turn.
