i'm after taking my vx on a track, but my insurance (elephant) doesn't cover it, which is fair enough i have been googling round the internet trying to find someone who will cover me when im on a track, but all the track day insurers seem to only offer it as part of car insurance as well does anyone know if there's companies who will just cover you for use on a track and not on the road, like by the day or something? Thanks

Competition car insurance may cover you for a one off but at a rather high cost. Most people either don't bother (self included) or get a road policy from a specialist insurer that includes trackday cover as part of the policy. You should note that trackday insurance has a HUGE excess and will only cover damage done to your car - if you plow into the back of someone they won't pay to fix the car you hit. Likewise if you're on track and someone with insurance hits you then their insurance won't pay for your damage. In 3 years i've only seen a couple of accidents, all involved one car only and most appear to have been due to the driver not being able to control the car at the speeds they were doing. HTH

Mine was around £60 for the day but was a couple of months in advance so was discounted for that, which was nice! Although mine is an older Y reg VX so not worth as much as others... hence the lower quote too

elephant / admiral used to have a exception that would void your policy if you used the car on track or if it had been previously used on track. for policies taken out now, this does not appear in the wording
