On my new VX the boot lid sits slightly raised when closed (about 10mm). The boot lid is not fouling on anything, just seems that the catch i sitting too high. Has anyone had this problem and how is it adjusted? My drivers door rattles a bit. There is some lateral movement in the hinge INSIDE the door. If I get the door cards off is the poing where door meets hinge visible/accessible for me to tighten things up? Could do with adjusting the windows a little whilst I'm at it I think. Couple of other little questions if I may... The 2.2NA has a cam chain rather than belt. An I correct in thinking that this does not need any attention until it starts to make a noise? (I'm fairly sure I read that on here somewhere but can no longer find the thread). EGR... what is this? Is a water ingress plate necessary for all VXs? Is there a difinitive towing method!? Lots on contradictions on here! Thanks chaps!

Hi

I had the same as you, i also found that the boot lid kept opening while driving along. To solve this i adjusted the latch on the lid untill it "clicked" into place nicley. After that i simply got a spanner (13mm i think) and pushed the spring up and turned the latch (its on a thread) now it closes and stays closed, is level with the body :)

Is the lid still locking, or can you pull it open  The door hinge is visible with the door open - the door just contains the main supporting bar  Yep, uses a camchain - if it's a newer NA you should be fine, if it's older then keep an ear out for a rattle from the top end :) The EGR is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation - a valve that can be seen on the left side of the engine, it can be blanked off to prevent exhaust gas being recirculated to the intake - emmissions related I think  Only get the plate if you suffer from water ingress - ie water in the plugs (I have one here, but never had a problem so not fitted  ) Towing - erm.. only if you have to :)

Does a 52 plate class as a newer NA? The boot does lock and cannot be pulled open (at least I don't want to pull any harder for fear of cracking it!). I'll have a good fiddle with the boot and door when its light and dry! How would I know if I had a water ingress issue? And by this time would it be an expensive fix? (wondering whether I should just get the ingress kit and fit it anyway). Just ordered a coolant tank UV protective cover! Don't want that cracking.

Yep, just have a play - you can turn the locating pin (screwdriver slot), or adjust the lock itself - might be worth running a peice of string or something under the boot lid first, so you can put some force on the lid in case it gets jammed  There is a list of engine numbers on here somewhere showing which ones had the revised oil nozzle fitted :)

Mine is an 02 and had the wrong oil jet fitted. Replaced the lot for peace of mind!

Hopefully mine will be OK then too! :)

Does anyone have a link to this engine number/cam chain problem thread please? No amount of searching is giving a result! :(
