I finally decided to fit my Sector 111 harness hole grommets today. An angle grinder and Draper equivalent to a Dremel are not ideal tools but first hole went OK - till I realised it was lower than I had intended! This puts the lower end of the grommet where the GRP curves. I am most of the way through the second hole now. Pleased to say it appears to match the second in position! With the grommet going over the curved bit of seat, things are just too tight to snap it together. I think the amount of padding is not helping either. The grommet sits open by about 3 or 4mm. It can be closed with a g-clamp only! I can use duct tape in the short term as a track day is imminent but need a long term solution. My ideas are: 1) to remove some of the padding in the grommet area - worried about wrinkly leather though 2) to use araldite and g-clamps - makes a re-trim, funds allowing, a PITA though 3) to bolt through with 3 bolts - black screw headed ones would look best - bit gash though Anybody else fitted these and, if so, any handy hints? Off to bed now after being in the garage from 1530-2300!!

Nope. But I've had the grommets sitting here for 6 months trying to pluck up the courage to do it. I'll await your results with interest.

I would swap my two perfect condition black leather seats with professionally done cutouts by Frofman, for two equally perfect condition black leather seats +£200 PM if interested

I did my drivers seat. There was virtually no choice in where to put the holes, if I wanted to avoid going through the raised section of plastic on the rear of the seat. Luckily, this position seemed to fit my shoulders perfectly. Getting the two pieces of plastic to clip together was an absolute bugger, but I did it with some effort. I'm not sure I understand exactly what the obstruction is with your, pics might help...

Here's mine.

I'd like to get the grommets out again and try to sort out that crease in the leather, apparently steam helps it settle nicely. It doesn't bother me enough to be bothered though.

Guess mine aren't perfect any more ;) Second hole is in and the match is good. I have pulled out padding and generally tweaked. The grommets can now just be closed by hand but the tension of the leather is the main problem - even without padding. It is becoming obvious that the seat is thicker here than the Elise seat the grommets were designed for. I can close the grommets now (just) but they will not stay closed. They no longer have the grip from when they were new as they have been opened and closed too many times I fear. It's coming down to glue or screw. Would prefer that latter but can't work out how to do it from reverse only ....

I ended up doing three tiny self tappers on each corner from the rear. They effectively jam up the grommet at each corner. Garage swept, seat cleaned ... 24 hours with only eating/sleeping between! I wouldn't do it again for love, money or even a free track day!! They look good though and should do the job. Too dark for a pic but I'll put something up when I get a chance. If I ever get a re-trim then the re-trimmer will be presented with a second set of grommets and all my best wishes :groupjump:

if you fibreglass a bolt (rather small bit long) to the inside of the front mould, then cut a circle out of the back on in the right place you can then tighten it as much as you want.

the front wont show anything, the back will have a small nut (you will cut the rest of the un-needed bolt off) if you do 4, 1 in each corner i think you will be ok with that.

That's neat Chris! My little screws seem to be holding. If the grommets slip apart though, I'll get some stuff from Halfrauds and try your method. Used my new harnesses yesterday at Snetterton. Did them up so tight I could not take in a full lungful of air. Absolutely superb - so much easier to keep a light touch on the steering wheel and feel what the car is doing. Made the hole fitting worth it. In reality, I should have a lower harness bar as the belts come down slighty to my shoulders rather than from directly behind. Subtle difference though and undoubtedly better than bolt on coming round the seats.

Only 6 months later I have pics of what I did

Still very pleased with the holes and the Schroth harness. Comfortable on track and I don't need pads despite very hard braking. I put this down to the straps being nice and wide - I had narrower ones on a Westfield and they would bruise the area by my collar bone!
