how many lights? google RROD fix and the number of lights (odds on its 3), there are lots of guides to fix it. OR if its under 3 years old then you can call MS and get them to fix it FOC

Check the power supply. If the light on that is green then yes the console is broke. Mine went last month. The helpline is very good. Emailed me a shipping label and it went off for repair to Germany via DHL the next day. Within 8 days they had sent me a brand new console with a months free live voucher, Cant fault the customer service plus the new release of the Xbox is alot quieter.

I fixed my RRoD on my nearly 3 year old launch console. I had to replace the thermal compound on both the cpu and gpcpu, plus made up my own kit to modify the heatsink mount bracket to give a much higher clamping pressure. It can also be the memory chips which use a BGA type connection to the board, and I believe are glued on.

You could try the towel trick. Got me an extra couple of hours of CoD4 before it went back to be fixed.

Mine was back (well ok it was a different console lol) within 5 days when I did it this time last year
Although that was enough to make me go and buy a 2nd one as PGR4 was on a deal with it etc so nearly made financial sense...... oh well 360 in the bedroom for DVD's now lol

The Microsoft repair service is wicked I dropped mine off to my local depot the same day I filled in the forms and it was back with me 10 days later with an xbox live subscription for a month free
