Hmmmm. Interesting. Mr Courtenay's son currently works for me...... I'll have to see if I can get a discount....(although he's in Germany at the moment....)more tuning options, cos i had some time on my hands at work so got on the phone
the first set are from courtney on 01692 404060 and none include fitting:
mansell 256 degree cams 14hp £490
headwork 10hp £560
lightened flywheel(3kg less than std) £175-(quite tempted with this)
they did a back box, remap etc as well, and are based in norfolk, but haven't tried them
the second is a place called blydenstein engineering who does a lot of vxhall head work and seemed very knowledgeable, though he hadn't touched a 2.2ecotec before, and he would only want a stripped and clean head etc sending up
stage 1 is work on induction ports and inlet valves, costing £295+vat and giving about an 8% increase in horse and 6% ft/lbs
stage 2 would include the exhaust side as well, costs £445+vat, but he said the returns here would be minimal e.g. if you got 10hp from a stage 2, only about 2 hp would be from the exaust-so he advised me that it wasn't really worth it, but pay your money take your choice
cheers
d
p.s i have had all my work done at regal and it's been superb, also alot closer for me.

mmmmm.....been asking around myself......mansell 256 degree cams 14hp £490
headwork 10hp £560
lightened flywheel(3kg less than std) £175-(quite tempted with this)
cams 256deg. are 815 euros+ shipping at dbilas, CLAIMED 10-12 hp (depends a lot on the following remap....)
porting and polishing heads...cool stuff, not very cost effective considering the limited power gain....labor is a killer there, the whole engine is taken apart.....
cams are marginally easier to install labour-wise....but then a remapp is needed....
when entering those areas you really need to ask yourself WHY and IF you want more power....too much could become a limitation on track, since you would spend most of the fun concentrating on reining in all those bhp's.....
also, the power may shift toward the upper end, limiting low-end torque... like the 256 cams will do somewhat....
how often will you rev up to 6800 rpm to get those +10 hp?
that is why I am going to assess my car with the new exhaust+intake/OZ/yokos/spax combo.....
I will drive to the Ring for the 18-21 April "long" weekend;
after that, IF I were to discover that my speedy is still underpowered for my skills, I will go ahead and work on cams......but I doubt......

Of course!for me i am hoping that a change of head and cams will push may car to at least 210bhp/190lbft ( if it gets to 220 i will be very happy!!!)
With a car named VX220, you have to go for 220bhp!
But then any self-respecting VX220 turbo will have to have considerably more. How much can it reliaby deliver? 250? 260?
Ricky is right that it's great fun as a lightweight, but those Porsche turbos do leave you for dead on the straights. Would be nice to give them an even bigger fright.
