Following my snapped key saga I have been trying to remove the ignition barrel today. I got the steering wheel + cowel etc off no problem but I can't figure out how to get the iginition barrel out. I managed to get the contact part off, so I can turn the contact switch with a screwdriver to start it, but the steering lock is on :( TIS has been utterly useless. It says that I need to insert a "3mm pin remover" to relase lock cyclinder and then it should pull out. Trouble is I cannot for the life of me figure out where the hell i'm supposed to insert this pin and the diagram is utterly useless. It does say to turn ignition key to position "I", but seems to imply that I won't be able to remove contact switch if I don't, but that bit I managed to get off. Obviously I can't turn it to position I, because the key is snapped off in the barrel! Any assistance would be greatfully recieved!

Normally there's a small hole on the side of the ignition barrel housing which you'd insert that 3mm pin into. Then you'd have to turn the "key" (screwdriver) to position "I" then the barrel should pull out...

i may be talking pish though as i've not actually had the cowling off to look so hope its correct.

Yeah thats taken from TIS, which I already have. Trouble is that there isn't a hole where that guide says there is. The only thing I can think is that the guide doesn't seem to show the bracket for the Immobiliser reader, which I think may be over the hole. I'm going to see if I can remove the immobiliser reader to hopefully reveal the hole.
