Having read last months evo and seen them take the europa round the north east, I thought I'd try out the route - A686 to Alston then across the moor. AMAZING - possibly the perfect drive Sun shining, roof off, no traffic and a freshly snowplowed B6277 Only downsides were being stuck behind a police advanced driving instructor in a peugeot for a few miles and dodging twitchers/skiers Anyone got any other suggestions for (possibly) the greatest vx driving road in the country?? If that's part of the EVO triangle I spy on the right hand side of the page I know exactly which road you're talking about and from what I remember it is an absolute belter. thumbsup

Not done it in the VX though but I think I'll be making quite a few visits to Wales as soon as the weather brightens up a little.

One of my favs is the A420 between Bath and Chippenham. A short but regular blast I knew well when I lived down there. I also enjoyed a clear run at the Hardknock Pass in the Lake District.

Agree the road up over hartside is phenomenal. Always been a bit scared to stop at the cafe due to the number of bikers outside though!!

Not on the same scale as the C & F or Wales, but it's nearer B676 East from Melton Mobray towards Colsterworth on the A1, and then sometimes onto the A151 to Bourne. No wide open spaces, but short bursts between the villages, and not alot of traffic.

I do wish people wouldn't advertise my favourite piece of road, which is right on my doorstep, on the internet. :beat: And there's more - but I'm not going to tell you. ;)

feeling very jealous of all the twisty stuff on other people's door steps. While the summer will surely bring some extended road trips until then what are peoples suggestions for a Sunday blat around the southern reaches of this fair isle? I'm thinking the Downs (north and south) must hold a well kept secret somewhere???? I love Ashdown forest but there is one or two too many deer ready to leap in front of a spirited driver. (I'm sure they wait in hiding) I know we are well over populated down these parts hence the crowded roads but it drives me crazy to get in the car, ready for an adrenaline fuelled few hours only to follow a micra at 20 mph while aunt Maude looks ant the pretty country side... bring on the summer

agree about the C&F and Snake Pass. If the IOM is in Britain then the IOM TT course is deffo one you should do. Get up early and it's all yours.
