Just picked up my yellow NA from Iverclyde in Scotland.

Posted Image

It has GAZ coilovers, mintex brakes and a K&N induction kit.

Coming from a Lupo GTI, and there seems to be quite a few that have made the same progression. Hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as I have done my Lupo for the past three years. Very much into my Volkswagens but unfortunately VW don't make a car like this so I'll have to make do with a Vauxhall. :P Only joking of course!

Just because I can, I'm gonna put up a few pictures of my Lupo. :D Bit of a wheel fiend...

Most recent picture, driving down to a show last weekend. On mirror polished Porsche 928 wheels.

Think its one of those natural progressions, I came from Club Lupo (but I had an Arosa). I think there are a couple of others on here too. You will enjoy the Vx (I have) and the forum is an invaluable source of info.

Welcome. :) Nice looking VX you have - please don't do the same to it as you did to the Lupo though.. ;)

I won't. Nothing to make rusty on the VX! My Lupo is brilliant. :P But since you asked, then I won't fit excellent quality coilovers, upgrade the brakes, fit a short shift kit, fit more supportive seats, take really good care of it or have an amazing amount of fun driving it. ;)

Do a search - the standard Bilstein/Eibach combination on the NA is pretty hard to beat (in good condition) what Lotus saved on screws when building the car - they spent on setting up the suspenders ........ aftermarket is not always best. ;)

upgrade the brakes

A set of decent pads is realy all thats needed unless you plan lots of track days.

fit more supportive seats

Do you have child bearing hips?...

take really good care of it or have an amazing amount of fun driving it. ;)

Smartarse. :P  No, my point was that I didn't exactly make a hash of my Lupo or do it on the cheap. Everything I did made that car better to drive. Maybe the VX doesn't need the same things doing to it, but the Lupo was all the better for the changes I made. :) It's already got the coilovers on, but if it didn't it would still be first on my list of things to do. I just don't think I could drive a standard height car any more. Arch gap makes me sad. :( My hips are quite the opposite actually, I'm canny skinny so they don't hold me too well. And with no padding of my own they're awfully hard! Cheers for the welcome. :)

Cheers. THe most recent shot is the first one, all the daft stuff like the black and rusty bonnets and things were just a bit of fun for a while. After 3 years on Club Lupo, it feels funny me being one of those annoying new members that are only buying because the cars are getting cheap, who ask silly questions and do mods that all the older members dislike. I know what it's like, Club Lupo is rife with them. Back in my day...

This is my point, you're not driving a 'standard' car anymore. :)

The Lupo is a mundane hatchback for shopping or taking small boys to 'Maccy D's' for a happy meal - your VX on the other hand is a car that was designed from the ground up to handle - a track car for the road with 50+ years of chassis and suspension know-how from a company who know a thing or two about how to make a car go round a corner.

Arch gap might make you sad but lowering it to the point where it's dragging it's arse round like a dog with worms will not only make the car look stupid, but will destroy the handling - thus defeating the WHOLE point of the car.....

The important things with a VX are what you 'can't see - not what you can. ;)

But many people on here have lowered their VX's on coilovers, especially those going on a track. I know that totally slamming a car can have a detrimental effect on handling, but lowering it a bit can't hurt too much. To be honest as long as it looks just how I want it to and handles well enough to be fun then I'll be happy. My Lupo could keep up with much bigger things round the twisties just about as fast as I would be happy to go on those types of roads (which wasn't slow...) so I'm sureany VX could manage that. I don't think you're giving the GTI it's due, it is quite different from a normal Lupo, with different suspension, wider track front and rear, aluminium panels and better weight distribution, it is widely regarded as the true successor to the mk1 Golf GTI, referred to as the greatest hot hatch ever Obviously I'm not saying it's on par with a VX, but I am wondering whether it will be able to put as big a smile on my face.

Ah hello! Haven't seen one around here for a long time. What colour is it? My mate said there's a yellow one near him on the Headland.
