Yep, decent bunch. Always been faultless with everything ive ordered Also ask for a discount and they usually give a little. And try LMF who are usually the same price or a little cheaper on some parts

Very good service. Don't bother emailing them - they don't reply. But phone them up and they are very competent IME

I've used them twice - and both times they have been a nightmare. Am currently trying to get an expensive part which arrived with a manufacturing fault/damage exchanged, and they're being pretty irksome and unhelpful  And they do reply to emails :) LMF have always come out more expensive than Autovaux for me, and they are inconsistent. Sometimes they take a discount off, and other times they don't - although I do sometimes wonder whether hearing a female voice they try it on, like Douglas Valley flogging me an Elise footrest for VX prices

Sorry to be a pest, but who are LMF, where are they based and what is their contact number. Am trying to source a nearside front shock absorber and it is proving to be a little more than tricky. Got an order with AutoVaux (or so I hope after having to explain the make, model and part twice) who are trying to get hold of the VX220 Supremo/Scarlet Pimpernel at the supplier to get an idea of availability and delivery date. But after a week I getting a little bored with the hmmm... it's on order but hasn't arrived yet.

I understand that the VX220 is a specialist car, but I wish I could just get a straight answer... If it's going to be a couple of days great, if it's going to be more than a week booo, but thank you for letting me know!

So in the end I have resorted to ringing the stealers for a price and to say they are supposed to be the local 220 specialist, the parts department seem a little clueless also... but did give the slightest more convincing response... We don't stock it, but can I take a number and ring you back once I have spoken to the supplier....... Thank you and yes you bloody can my number is 07.......

I have all my fingers and toes crossed and now it's getting painful to type.

The worst thing is that I really need to get a replacement part as I really don't think the council will pay for Gaz shocks all round.

Oi Councils: Get the blooooody pot holes of Britain fixed, unemployment rates are high yes? Well there is certainly a job there for at least half a million for the best part of a year to get the roads fixed. Do you know what give me some bloody tarmac and PPE and if fill the feckers in!

rant over... Apologies

I think Autovaux are great - always know exactly what part I want, confirm the part nos, brand and whether OE or not, accurate about what is in or out of stock, will try and get items from third party suppliers in if it's not one of their lines, call back when they say they will, get stuff to me next day even in IOM with no extra postage, well packed. Great service IMO.

Yes, I had a similar problem first time round. Second time has just been  Won't be using them again.

LMF Vauxhall (put it in Google) are just another parts supplier - although they may have your item in stock; if not - you will get the same story as you have already been given.

Agree about potholes - and will add pavements to that rant.

As a matter of interest, other than the one review on here about the Spax suspension kit does anyone have a comparison to the ordinary Gaz kit? I am getting a little fed up of not having anyone get back to me regarding a single replacement shocker, or only being able to give me a supply date once I have ordered. If it's going to be that much of an arse then I may just bite the bullet now in case I have to go through this all over again.

I would pose your question in the Tuning & Mods section - I don't think this thread will see much traffic :)

If you can go without the car for a few days you can send the shocks back to Bilstein to be rebuilt, would probably be cheaper to get all four done than to buy a single new unit.

Right Guys, thanks for the feedback allround. AutoVaux finally came up with the goods today... Rang them to say that I needed the part quickly and if it they couldn't give me an answer within the day that i wanted to cancel the order. 2 1/2 hours later I got a call to say the part had arrived, they hadn't been told the part had been shipped, just that it landed in amongst a delivery. I still stand by my posts to others, if you want a part try AutoVaux, but if it ain't in stock and you cannot be arsed ringing daily to get a status update to be promised "I'll ring you back in 10 minutes" and then not here anything then look elsewhere. When I got there the guy on the counter seemed to want to do me a discount for being a .org member and that I had been messed around. So he did the part 'at cost' (so he said) at £106.80. Bearing in mind that was just for the damper, bumpstop and spring mounts. Once the summer has passed then I will definitely get the car up on stands and get all the other's off to Bilstein for a service, but at the moment I just want to make the most of my first summer with the car. Carl1977 (the previous owner) seemed to have not been so lucky with it being at Motorbodies all last summer, started to wonder whether 'VX BUN' doesn't like the sun. Fingers crossed that's it. Still gotta now get the all-alloy rad ordered and then fitted - ready for the jaunt around Europe in the summer.... 23days 4500miles. Mangham

I've used Autovaux 3 times. 2 engine mounts and a water ingress cover, I think. They are helpful, knowledgeable on the VX parts and seem to have the keenest prices. I always recommend them. Tried LMF after seeing this thread. I'd never heard of them before. The guy on the phone didn't know straight off what a side mount for a VX220 was and the mounts were more expensive than Autovaux. Not that I wouldn't try LMF again in the future. You've got to shop around!!

Second chance will be granted very soon. Will be trying them once I finally get to grips with the cuase of the rattle's on the passenger side of the car. The front shocker helped the big rattle, now it's gone I can now hear the second tier rattles. Am thinking its the tie rod's and the anti-roll bar links so gonna try and get a diagnosis before stumping up and maybe having to wait for the part to appear in stock.

Autovaux are probably fine if you have no issues, but god forbid if you have a problem. The first time I bought something, it was a nightmare - but that was nothing compared to the second time. I bought I footrest, which had a manufacturer fault. Autovaux were none too helpful, but at their behest I returned it on 30th March at a cost of circa £9. They said that because it looked like it had been damaged in transit (impossible, as they well knew), they would not refund me the return cost. They ordered a replacement, and they themselves acknowledged that it too had production flaws (still no sign of a refund of the return postage though) and they claim they tried to send me photos of it - although I never received them. They then said that they were going to send it to me anyway - after acknowledging it was flawed! I said that I didn't want a flawed item, especially given the high value (circa £160), and asked that they order another. They declined, so I asked for a refund. Despite numerous phone calls and emails, here I am nearly 2 months later with no footrest and no refund.

They are indeed. Was speaking to them on Friday and he mentioned they'd be there. As usual, great service from them. Called me back twice to confirm times on a couple of bits I'd ordered after he called around some of their tame dealers. thumbsup
