Right spoken with them again, gonna pass over some measurements in the next few days hopefully. BTW: if you wanted to go fully carbon finish it makes the seats circa £200 each. Again, if anyone has a spare seat runner they don't mind loaning out or even measuring accurately, please let me know. Also if anyone is around the Merseyside area and doesn't mind doing a show and tell to the manufacturer (even more handy if you happen to have a seat out) let me know and i'll try to arrange a meet. Problems needed to address with the current seat design: Correct fitment to our seat runners Height of seat - so we can slide it back into the roll bar cover bit. Angle of seat - we need quite an upright seat so it doesn't restrict our taller drivers and work with the harness bar. Whilst still being a nice angle to drive with or without a helmet. Width - so not to hit the gear stick cover Height of base - so not to catch on the foot plate bit in front of the seat. Height of seat sides - if they are too high it'll make getting in and out difficult (more than it is already!!). Anything else you lot can think of? Hopefully a week or so after the measurements have been handed over i may have a prototype to try, fingers crossed Muncher: Good point i've read quite a bit about the seats and no one has mentioned this, i'm on the phone again to them possibly tomorrow so will ask the question.

I certainly would be very interested. I think we need to know if they would able to get them to work with the standard seatbelt? I know most will go with some sort of harness but standard belt makes life easier I suspect around town etc...

It's just that with about 3-4 inches of GRP is only going to be so strong even if it's half an inch thick. A height with helmet weighing 8kg hitting it at say 20G is going to have something like 250kg of weight instantaneously applied to it, at that thickness it will just collapse.

drgoatboy: I'm planning to keep mine for MOT so fingers crossed they will. muncher: I will ask anyway, but i do know they use a make up thats stronger than the standard chop strand matt, but use a high tensile woven fibre glass. IIRC there is also a re-enforcing channel that runs up the back of the seat adding strength, but not sure how high it goes. Saying that, it might just be the base for the mounting points being extended up the back, which would still help anyway

Would be handy if the base of the seat is as low as possible to give those of longer torso's a bit more headroom. I'd guess a lot of these requirements would also apply to the Elise so that might broaden his potential market, if he's not sure whether he wants to tackle the project.

That's the idea, he wanted to make some for the elise/exige market but hadn't yet got anyone to work with on it. As the vx is basically the same, the plan is to make a seat that will suit them all.

They appear to be based in the Southport area, quite close to me in fact.

Sounds good but how hard would it be for them to get hold of a seat from a scrappy and strip it down to see what's what? It just seems a bit weird that a potential future venture is taken on by getting measurements from joe bloggs with his wanky tape measure. I hope they come up with something but don't want to see them waste time and money cobbling together prototypes that may or may not fit.

Nice and constructive thumbsdown

By the way, I can tell you my tape measure isn't wanky!! And my name isn't Joe. :) Why don't you go and spend your time on money on something that might not even come off. (even though i'll be getting some to trial, i can't then get one made and then just decide i don't like it and not pay!!)

I take it you not interested then? Probably not, according to your profile you don't even own a VX!! Hmmmm

What you don't obviously understand is this isn't a massive company with a huge warehouse, this is a proper old school company that want to work closely with a customer so they get exactly what they want, they normally only work in the kit car scene etc... I don't want a replica of what we have already as that's not the point, and having a seat or a set of seat runners will only help but not solve the problem of needing to take measurements!!! As the design is completely different from standard seat, before wasting time and money we'll be looking at other seats i.e the old lotus europa or westfield seats etc..!

Sorry if the reply is a little harsh but jumping in the thread and making comments like that, without anything useful to say, is not really on!

Easy there tiger.

I think making sure they get what they need (re. measurements) from the get go is very important, and by having something that is known to fit would be the sensible route, even more so if they are a small company. I can't believe that by getting a few measurements they will be able to produce something that will fit, I hope I'm wrong but it just made more sense to me if they had a 'known' product to start from, not copy, just base dimensions on.

As mentioned in my first post I hope it comes off and am interested to hear more. I didn't want to knock the thread, just thought it may save time and money for all involved. If they can do what they say then that's excellent and I look forward to where it goes from here thumbsup

Ok mate!!! Sorry, i was a little harsh, I'd had a hard day and finished it off with a few :drink: ! Not your fault and i shouldn't have taken it out on you. I've been a bit jumpy on this site recently as I been getting annoyed with the nonconstructive comments by non-owners and dreamers, which seems to have got worse over the last year. I see what your saying (bar the wanky tape measure and JB!) and do appreciate your concern over cost, but this seems to be the route they have done for other cars and i'm doing everything they ask as they are the manufacturer, so i bow to there established methods and knowledge. Like i said when i end up with a product (all be it may be unfinished) at my place i'll be happy to to let people come and look, i'll take pics and post them up. I want to try to get people involved without annoying the company with pointless calls and questions as I'd hate it for them to drop it due to being hassled constantly by time wasters etc... which does happen. Thats why anyone who looks like they can help i'm pm'ing, and also why i'm asking for you ideas and comments. Therefore: jasvxt: pm on its way to you!! mandarinvx: Snap!!! I love the look of those pads, only prob is i'm trying to arrange the pads to be covered differently as the one's they normally do are leatheret not real leather, and we can't have that can we :D

I love the way these seats look Imnotworthy

To add a little perspective, these are really cheap and look good quality, I've seen seating for gamers that are twice the price so £200 a pair is excellent.

Expensive gaming seat!!!

Matt, you have PM. I'm not a million miles away from southport, I have a spare set of runners and the seats are out of my cat atm if the need to look at the whole thing. Hope this helps?
