just been reading on one of the german forums about yokohamas being fitted to a opel speester(vx220)

yoko themselves have suggested that you can put 205/50/17s on the front with 225/45/17s on the rear
using avs sport

see this link

hmm....i might just have to try this..... :rolleyes:

Did I read that correctly and that you use the existing wheels? I remember when I was at Palmersport in October they said they were experimenting with tyres. I'm there again this Saturday and I'll try and remember to ask what they came up with.

The AVS is a good tyre but I thought they recommended a 205 wouldn't fit? Could solve a lot of issues on understeer on track.

Someone with an S2 111S Elise has fitted 195's on standard alloys. Toyo Proxes (sp?) if I remember right. The car is tracked regularly and has uprated/lowered suspension. They did not look too big for the wheel. The Elise has a 5.5"x16" front wheel, making it easier to source a suitable front. The 17"ers on the VX may make finding the right tyre a little more difficult. :huh:

205 need a 7' rim, not a 5,5. it is very stretched.......for regular driving will be somewhat fine, but on track.... :blink: :o

of course Yoko says they fit, balloning all the way out, but hey, everybody want to make the extra buck.... :rolleyes: :lol: I would never compromise on rim/tyre fitting, exp. on a track tool..... :o there might some 195/40-17 at Toyo, but getting new rims is always the best option, if yoy can afford it.... :rolleyes: got the regal manifold, installing was a breeze, but still waiting for the friggin' komo-tec exhaust, tomorrow hopefully should be in.... <_<

I remember when I was at Palmersport in October they said they were experimenting with tyres. I'm there again this Saturday and I'll try and remember to ask what they came up with.

PalmerSport haven't come up with anything other than the Bridgestone tyres.

Incidentally, in the time they had the NA VXs they only had one engine rebuild and 8 gearbox rebuilds between (I believe) 12 cars. Not bad at all considering what these cars go through up there. Seems they had their first turbo failure on Saturday. Makes you wonder if the turbo will be as resilient as the NA.
