As in the picture, just use some tigerseal or similar to bond the mesh over the ducts. This should stop any unwanted flies or most debris from being thrown out of the heater outlets on the dash when you are driving along, or switch the blower on. A worthwhile mod , and unlike the socks or tights modification, they wont ladder
Due to an oversupply, I have enough mesh for another 8 other vehicles. Cost just £1 including postage and packaging.
Phil
Note, to fit to crashbox requires the front clam to be removed, so ideal to fit if you are changing your radiator

As part of my ongoing rebuild, I have some stainless steel wire mesh suitable for bonding over the heater intake ducts in the crashbox, or, if you have the heater out, over the intake to the heater.

Well, not that I can tell really, as I fitted them before the car was back on the road.Has this restricted the flow of air at all?
I did the same mod on my Elise with a pair of filters - from Brooke Kensington I think - and did not notice any loss in performance.
The wire mesh is not so fine as to restrict airflow (just under 1mm square), and is used as fly/insect filters for vents. You will still get very small particles come through, but you will not get insects and small (or large) flies coming at you through the heater vents. It certainly is not a pollen filter
I have also sealed my heater (as I had the chance whilst working on the front end), sealed the distribution box, replaced all the foam gaskets, and fitted a 'Venair'/eBay heater pipe...
