My drivers window has recently stopped working. When trying to roll the window down nothing much happens. I have managed to get the door panel off and when I try to wind down the mechanism flexes as if there is a restriction. The winder wont move downwards even with some added persuasion. There doesn't seem any restriction to winding up the though. Using mirrors etc I can't see any obvious restriction to the mechansim but I dont have any frame of reference. I have looked at the various window adjustment guides but nothing seems appropriate. Can anyone help? Thanks

It could be that the sliders at each end could be out of alignment or dislocated. Can you move your window backwards and forwards in the door - ie towards the front and back of the car? In my case, the front runner top mount was bent and needed bending back to stop the movement of the window. Whilst apart it is worth regreasing the runners to prevent any tight spots. Good luck!

my passenger window wouldnt go up the other day (in the rain). I stopped the car to look at it, the window wouldnt wind past a certain point about 1/2 way up; couldnt see anything wrong with the mechanism at all; wd40'd it then just pulled the glass up (rather than using and snapping the handle) and it has been fine since!

When I am looking at the window mechanism there is maybe 1" of space for travel at the front roller and maybe 3" at the rear roller. Does this sound the same as your when the window is up?
I thought there should be more travel at the front roller and possibly my runners had shifted??

Thanks

My problem lay with part number 9 on this picture. Where screw 23 fixes, the bracket bonded to the door had been bent, so the distance between 9 and 10 was more than what it should of been at the top. In turn, the window used to wedge itself and not slide down 9 and 10, which had caused the mechanism, 1, to be twisted slightly. I found it easier to take the whole door glass out, re shape the front bracket, straighten out the main mechanism arms on 1 and lubricate the slides 9 and 10 with a small amount of grease, along with all the other associated runners and channels, then reassemble, and adjust as required.

Hope this helps
