Hi Guys, Recently had my drivers side outer sill (or cill?) repaired after cracking it by inadvertently falling on it whilst vaccuuming the interior ! Seen some carbon fibre plates, and understand that Vauxhall sell alloy versions. Wondered what people thought about any of them; I'm looking to add a little strength so that if there is a next time the load will be spread. Cheers...

What sort of thing are you wanting to know :) Not that I will be able to help, but someone else will if you given an idea of what kind of advice you are after. The bling ones from Vaux have an equally bling price tag. I have seen them once or twice for sale on here/eBay.

Hi Y&B,

Feel that I must fit something to the outer sills to strengthen them, if necessary will buy the Vauxhall parts, but just wondered if the after market carbon ones actually do a job or just look pretty !

Cheers for the reply BTW.

Just look pretty. Even if they did help, it would just crack somewhere else. There is no structure at all to the part of the sill that is under the door.

:yeahthat: If you put a plate on it you'll just end up with a big crack round the side of the plate. If you want to tidy up / cover up the appearance of the repair you can cover it with the carbon ones that MVS sells on ebay.

Back on Track Motorsport made the repair, and it is as good as new. Absolutely no way of telling it was damaged. The service was excellent. (Perhaps they will send me a polo shirt now).

So far the view seems to be that one just has to live with a weak sill, any cover plates are simply bling/nice to look at.

Norman, on reread I have no idea why I questioned what you were asking - it seems perfectly clear today :beat: :D

You can still get the ones from the site shop. I got some about 6 months ago, I got in touch with the guy directly who manufactured them. They are carbon fibre and I think they look the best by far. Let me know if you want his contact details and I will dig them out.
