I have done a search and not found anything useful so if there is a thread please don't :flame: , please post a link. I am looking to take off the wing mirrors this weekend and I have had a little look. The two bolts not under the plastic trim are obvious but what about the one under the plastic trim? Had a little explore and couldn't see it. I take it there are only three bolts holding them on. Is there something I am missing? I bet it is real simple.

Cheers Yob, a sort of help but doesn't point me to the removal of the third bolt.

Yep, three bolts - two are crosshead scewdriver and one is an allen bolt (or the other way round) You need to be careful not to drop it inside the doorskin tho, else you'll be stripping the whole thing down (I used a bit of putty on the end of the driver) You'll need to buy (or make) some little black vinyl circles to cover the holes up again afterward :)

realy should have read this topic earlier :beat: how do you remove the little plastic triangle that hides the third bolt???? really don't want to snap it off, and to top it all off I dropped one of the allen key bolts into the door so need to strip that down too :beat: any pointers on getting to the third bolt before I rip the door off and claim on the insurance please

It has one of those 'push in to expand' type plastic fasteners holding it in place - you need to use a cocktail stick or similar to push the centre bit through (which will then drop into the door, together with the allen key )

Yup, two behind the little black circles of tape or whatever they used and one behind the black plastic triangle. Window must be wound down to get to it. I used to mess around with putty on the end of the allen key but don't bother now. Jusf let them drop inside the door. Slide them up to the catch end of the door using a strong magnet underneath and then one of those magnets on an arm to fish the bolts and washers out through the hole at the top of the door which is covere by a plastic cap! Simples! To put the new bolts in I tape them to te allen key but so as when I pull the allen key away the tape is attached to the tool and not the bolt! thumbsup You still want my old wing mirrors Mike?

To be honest with you, I have removed mine and painted and refitted now so really don't need yours but a deal is a deal.

I still have the cam cover for you and really do want the filter...I am sure we can find a deal.

are you talking about the two plastic circles here mandarin? i just push in the middle and pull the triangle up? sounds far too simple

may just rip it off and see what happens

Hi Chris,

Take the mirror off the car and tighten the bolts that hold the mirror head to the base and refit, it is that simple.

Oh and while you are at it, fit a supercharger.
