Sorry to post this as I know window adjustment has been discussed many times in the past. However bear with me. One of my window adjusters was seized :angry2: So after searcihng the forum I have come across a guide on removing the whole window guide (to which the adjuster is attached). What a PITA that was to remove. Anyway once out, I have spent plenty of time with a tin of WD40 and sore fingers releasing the window adjuster. I have since refitted it all, and attempted the adjustment. Looking at the bottom of the guide there does seem to be some degree of movement. However even at a fair degree of adjustment (I don't want to take it any further because of the risk of the screw dropping inside) the window still isn't quite touching the seal at the top. So I gave another turn or so of the adjust and tried to wind the window up. It got about halfway then stopped. SO I wind the adjuster back again and the window goes all the way up. So this leaves me with a bit of a dilemma. I can't adjust the window sufficiently as the window won't go all the way up. But if the adjuster is in the position where the window goes all the way up, there is a slight gap between window and seal. Any advice?

Have you tried the screw that is located in between
the rubbers next to the wing mirror
really hard to describe but.....
if you wind the window fully down
look between the rubbers
you should see a screw head
give this a try
it seems to adjust the angle of the window

mine wouldn't wind all the way up to the roof and would get stuck leaving
a nasty triangular gap
a few turns of this screw sorted it out

if not have you read the Stormtrooper guide ?
this is very informative and etlls what dose what
with regard to the wind and adjustments

Good luck

Hi Baron,

Yes I think I know the screw you mean. I didn't actually mention in my first post which guide I was talking about. Its the guide at the outsdie of the door, i.e. not the wing mirro side. And I had to remove this screw to get the guide out. I have tried tweaking it a bit, but that seemed to make matters worse with regards the window not closing.

And I've read stormtroopers guide. I have searched the forum and read most things relevant, but I'm still stuck.

There is also a screw at the other end of the door (seatbelt end). As suggested above, if you wind the window down, you can see this by folding back the rubber and looking inside the door at the back panel - it's about 1-2 inches from the top of the door. My window gets stuck about an inch from the top and it’s because this screw becomes loose and stops the window. I too went through the whole window adjustment guide, before finding this screw :) It may not be the cause, but something else to try.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I know which screw you are talking about as I had to remove it to remove the window guide. Bad thoughts are crossing my mind at the moment about the window having an accident and nice Mr Autowindscreen fixing it

Think I have found all of the options for tweaking the windows :D (just about all of them stated on here) I have found that the nylon runners wear though and you can get away with the adjustments stated to stop the rattle or seal the glass better but the last 2 windows I did needed the nylon guides tweaking (nylon tape or found b&q repair tape pushed into the guides removes the movement and no more rattle and better fit as you can use the adjustment again wothout fouling the door. My door was really bad previous to above mod and had to file some of the body of the nylon guide down to stop the fouling Oh and there is a small amount of adjustment in the metal rails themselves if required ;) Mine had been done for about 4months and stil spot on with no rattles even with window fully down ;) DG

Hi Dunca,

Interesting point you make there. Perhaps the nylon runner has worn sufficiently to cause the window not to sit snugly agains the seal. I might try and get some of the aforementioned 'bodge' tape

cheers

Adjusted my windows the weekend and they fit PERFECT against the rubbers now but the passenger window rattles when fully down,if I wind it up slightly so it sits just against the rubber it stops. It seems to rattle side to side when fully down though, any ideas.
Could this be the runners possibly do you think?

When you say fully down, does this mean that the glass is below the level of the weatherstrips? My windows do not go down that far as there is a hard foam/rubber/polystyrene?? block, at the bottom of the inside of the door, that prevents the window from going below the weatherstrips - number 11 on the image below
