Guys. Only had my VX a day. The K&N went on last night but I badly need an exhaust to make some serious noise. Who has the loudest exhaust then? I gather from this board that the Regal number is fairly popular. What is the sound like and are there any noticeable power gains? How long to fit and just how much? How does the Vauxhall Sports Exahust measure up? Thanks. :D

I prefer the noise of the Vauxhall one myself but not sure if it adds any power?

I can vouch for the sound of the Vauxhall exhaust. Test drove a VX with the Vaux exhaust and it was a big improvement (sound-wise) on the standard one. Personally I though it sounded great. There wasn't much drone at 70/80 either - Could barely hear the exhaust over the wind noise with the hood off. Might be different with hood on though. Jase

Is the Vauxhall exhaust also known as the sports silencer ? If so the Brochure states it's only available for the NA 2.2 VX <_<

There's no sports exhaust just yet for the VXT, should be soon though.

regal are working on a sports exhaust for the vxt!! the sports silencer from vauxhall has a bark to it! its straight thru but only 50mm it does have a nice sound.... the regal exhaust has a much deeper sound.... this really due to larger thru pipes (63mm) larger exit and larger silencer!!! in my opinion its worth hearing both but i personally would go with the regal setup....

I must say ive got the Vauxhall sports exhaust and it gives a lovely burble at low revs and a good low bass scream under duress i like it....one of my mates has a souped up P1 Subaru with a pipe as big as my head and the cats taken out and it doesnt sound as good-I reckon the Vauxhall one holds its own personally.....

I've got the Vauxhall sports exhaust and it has a great sound, especially through tunnels. It burbles nicely on the overrun :D

I've got the vauxhall sports exhaust and K&N 57i induction kit. Absolutely fantastic at 6000rpm :) :) If you're around the essex area i'll be more than happy to demonstrate it. The vauxhall exhaust has a great overrun popping effect as well :)

the Vauxhall n/a sports silencer is quite loud in my ,wheather it adds any power is debatable, but it sounds great anyway. It will fit straight on to a VXT.

my understanding is that the exhaust on the NA VX had to be modified to fit VXT and as such they arn't interchangeable. I think Thorney has confirmed this in an early reply on this post.

Guys, if its just noise that you want then go for a fancy (and expensive) loud exhaust. If HOWEVER you want power then check out the discussion in the tuning section on cat removal. Call me an old fart if u like but I'm all for power without the fart. Griffo

How loud is the vauxhall exhaust when idling compared to standard? My garage is integral to the house which is a semi and I don't want to p*ss off the neighbours when taking the car out in the morning!

p.s. It's now a month since I got my vx and I've got it bad. I've started waking up at 6am at the weekends thinking about driving it. I can't get out of the thing when I get home - I sit there on the drive with the engine running thinking about where I can go next.
Everything just feels so right - driving position is perfect, steering so communicative and my cheeks ache from grinning (my other cheeks hurt from clenching round hairpins too!).

The fact that I haven't washed any clothes or dishes for 2 weeks really isn't important in the grand scheme of things - I've even stopped drinking on saturday nights so I can get up really early on sundays and know I'm not over the limit. THIS IS LUUURRRRVVVVE!

Sports exhaust doesn't really make much more noise until the car is above 3k rpms. Above that it makes a hell of a difference! How is your boyfriends new impreza? Is he wishing he'd bought a proper sports car now? :P

hehe - i'll tell him you said that!! He's really pleased with it - he's always been into saloons and coupes rather than roadsters (old before his time!). Total opposite of what floats my boat though - I don't want to have to do over a ton before I get any thrills. I'll have to start looking for a toyboy with an ultima before he starts buying estates!! He's paid for a place on the vx palmersport day though so there's still hope that he'll be converted. His head is already above the roofline without a helmet on and I don't think he'll be able to change into 5th so that should ensure I kick his ass. :P

Anyone know what the Db ratings are for the standard and Regal exhausts. I booked a track day recently and was asked what the decibel rating was at either two-thirds or three-quarters revs (can't remember which!). I'm running a standard exhaust at the moment but plan to have the Regal one fitted around June/July. Some venues set a max of 98Db and wondered how close the Regal comes. Jim
