My abs light is on.....again.
I've been thinking about a tech2 to properly diagnose it but boy are they expensive. I spotted these

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...iag...:1|294:50

Has anyone used one? Does it do full tech 2 diagnostics or is it just an obd code reader?

Thanks

chances are its the dodgy hungarian part version of tech 2 which amazingly dosent work.... I even tried it with a proper KWP2000 interface I had where I used to wok. for the small cost, its worth a gamble, but I really doubt its much more than a simple OBD-II reader

I got this; http://cgi.ebay.com/...P...OIBSA:UK:11

Works great, and even managed to get rid of the airbag warning light which I happend to trigger by mistake. Was told that that would require proper Tech-II, but this one did the work as well.

I think so, as there are about 3 screens of engine sensors, solenoids, etc, but as I'm not on my home laptop, I couldn't say for sure.

Recently had my ABS light coming on & off intermitently. Problem was located to a bad/rusty connection on the rear near side wheel sensor.

Tempting as a tech2 interface is at over £1000 :o , I think I'll stick with my OP-COM interface that cost me £40 that has all the functionality of the tech 2 thumbsup

Can the OP-COM interface and software prime/cycle the ABS pump when replacing the brake fluid, to dump any old crap trapped in the ABS pump? That would be a great facility to have.

Looking on Ebay there's a few versions of OP-COM with various software and firmware revisions. As the VX is an oldish car, is there any advantage in getting the latest 2009 version, or is it a waste of money? Also can you pulse the ABS module - used for bleeding the system?

Don't think that there is that much difference in the software, my copy is the 081016 version, so could copy that for you if required. Well, unsure of the ABS modulation as I've not investigated it - but surely if you are pressure bleeding, this should clean out the crap in the pump  When I rebuilt my front end, I had to replace all the front end brake pipes, including to and from the ABS unit. as it was disconnected for a while, and mainly drained, I thought I may get an air pocket in it, but when I had reassembled all the pipes and calipers, the only air I had initially was in the front calipers...

I know that the VXR220 can only be done with a Lotus tool, but all other VX's are done with Tech 2.

I bought this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=330339872302

Has proved itself VERY handy already. Does all engine, abs, alarm, programs keys etc. Not sure about pulsing abs pump, I havent investigated that yet but you can run tests on all the components. Glad I got one.
