Hi, Im on my second VXT. Its a sorry tale-I bought the first as a catD and spent a lot of money and then a few months later it tried to kill me. The groove in the road was made by the car. The car suddenly veered to the right and went up a bank and demolished a few trees. Before I put it back on the road I had it GEOd and they said it was virtually spot on, which led me to believe that all was OK. I just wondered if anyone else had the wheel and suspension drop off when cornering at 65mph! A friend told me that he knew of Elises that had a problem with the track rod breaking at inconvenient times. My 2nd one is behaving so far! Hope these images work-My techy son put them on! toe links breaking is something that happens now and again - but the wheel won't just fall off., just flap about a bit.

Thats what the friend said, and then the rear wheels start to steer the car. The tree may have ripped the back wheel off, but that doesnt account for the groove in the raod. Knowing how it happened would have been nice so that I can get some closure and stop wondering if it may happen again..... Im an old fart, and I do drive quickly but not recklessly, so this was a bit of a shock.

No, fortunately ! The door fell off so it would not have been good - I suspect the passenger would have been launched out of the side ! Incidentally, the first picture is of the car on a trailerwhen I collected it as a catD and as you can see there was no damage to the 2 nearside wheels, so the cause is a mystery. Uploaded these pics in case it has happened to someone else.

Just realised your car was a repaired catd - although toe links do break (i've had one break and a second one siezed up but caught it before it broke) it's maybe that the person fixing your car didnt bother to replace them. Just a thought......

Looks like the first accident removed the front end so presumably left no easy way to tow the car. Possibly towed by the wishbones or something else that stressed the rod ends. How was the car loaded onto the trailer in pic 1 and how was it moved about before then?

Thats the best Ive heard so far .......but as I said it was GEOd and I would have thought that would have been picked up, and the car was probably not towed anywhere as it drove....but thanks anyway at least you had a bash!

I was paid out quite quickly and didn't lose out financially so I wasn't after any kind of mechanical investigation. Had I been more badly injured, I assume the police or my insurance company, would have tried to fathom it out.

......and Im not having TFF - It was the police that found the scar in the road and told me that something strange had happened - I was in cloud cuckoo land having found the chassis stronger than my bonce!

........and I also thought it odd that the passenger door fell off!
