I've already contacted Tube Torque (www.tubetorque.co.uk) to make me an exhaust - they make an exhaust for my 172 which I was very happy with - now I'm looking at the engine. I've got about £600 to spend on engine mods but I don't want them to be too extreme - I'd like to keep the current drivability of the car. Like quite a few people here I've noticed that there is a lull in between 2,500 - 4,000rpm, it'd be good if I could eradicate this. I'd like to reach 160bhp if possible - this should take the 0-100 time down in to the low 16's. I don't want to use Superchips because I've heard quite a few bad stories about them but I'm guessing that a chip is the way to go. After giving the brakes a good work out in The Lakes I've come to the conclusion that all I need (for now) is new uprated pads. I want to keep the suspension as is because I don't want the ride to become any more harsh. So, what specific mods do you guys recommend? Thanks! Andy.

Supposedly there are quite a few cars that have been fitted with a Superchip whose engines are damaged due to increased heat within the engine.

I've been told that this is due to Superchips not developing their chips well enough through wanting to be one of the first manufacturers to offer a chip for each new performance car.

I haven't had any dealing with them so don't treat this as gospel - it may be a case of Chinese whispers - but I'm personally going to steer clear.

Andy.

Andy, sent you PM. I'm quite keen to investigate other tuners for the VX.

Thorney, I approached 888 engineering way back and they said it would cost them too much to develop, not the engine tuning as they have already have done the leg work on that for the touring car, but generally all the other stuff thats needs checking out ie. brakes, exhausts, suspension. To be honest back then the VX was new and they may of had pressure from vauxhall about not doing any tuning stuff as there were rumours then about a turbo version and obviously the sprint version. I was thinking now we have a bit more clout and with this site up and running we may be able to sway them back into the loop to do something for us. What do you reckon, I can give you the name of the person I was speaking too as I think I wrote it down in one of my old yahoo posts. 200-300bhp no problem. John.

Yeah, let me know, I'll make a 'formal' approach. I've had a bit of contact with a few others too. :grouphug:

There's only one problem with Regal for me - they're in Southampton, I'm near Liverpool.

I'll still give them some thought, but a tuner closer to home would be better!

Andy.
