Due to the server move I have uploaded these (kindly sent over by Winstar) - I couldn't extract the photo's only and update the old topic unfortunately

A couple of questions :) What benefit does removing the rear lights have  Why do you have to udo the boot lock mechanism (cabling to alarm sensor )

not sure why you need to remove the lights, although would you want to risk damaging them?

boot lock mechanism is attached to the cable mechanism.

these are a few reasons to remove the rear lights when removing the rear clam; 1 - makes the clam lighter thumbsup 2- with the lights removed you have a perfect place to hold the clam thumbsup 3 - saves damaging the lights thumbsup 4 - a good excuse to polish the paint behind them

I tried to remove the real clam a two weeks ago, but was impossible. I could not take the Black panel behind the seats. Was very glued

It's hard work to unstick the base of that panel, the first time it needs to come out. You might need to get something like a steel rule underneath it to help prise it off.

If atom X delivers my rear clam tomorrow I'll be updating this thread with more pics next week. I'm looking forward to replacing the clam and dreading the job with equal measure

Massive fail  I/we seriously under estimated 4 years of rust on this one. We started on the filler cap (I knew that could be an issue) all the bolts came out ok, bar the last two which just span and span. No chance of drilling them out because the nuts are captive in the shitty inner lining. Onto the number plate lights....no  Onto the four bolts in the boot floor....no  two snapped off Gave up then. Currenty looking into current methods of removing snapped bolts FFS :angry2:

Well, I'm getting there. Mucho respect to Ricki (sp) but that was a long time ago on a box fresh VX Soooo many jack nuts/bolts rusted in, and a few things missing like the rear number plate lights and the fact you cant replace the hoop without getting the clam off first (IMO) When I get it sorted I'll take pics of every stage
