Hey guys, Some will have seen my previous post re problems starting my VX - I am thinking that this may be linked to a continuing problem with my immobiliser/alarm! A local garage has told me that the immobiliser/alarm needs to be reset but that this can only be done by Vauxhall? Is this accurate?! And does anyone know how much this is likely to cost?! Thanks! Worth a try...

Turn your ignition on but don't start the engine and press the alarm fob button.

the alarm and immobiliser are two seperate components and are not linked on the vx220 if the engine won't start and the engine light flashes, when turning the engine over, then the key needs to be reprogrammed with tech2 try the spare key thumbsup

Just to add: IIRC (been a few years now  ) The immobiliser is Vauxhall (chip in key, same as Corsa B.) & the alarm is a Meta unit.

It's the computer that the dealer (or a good tuner)uses to read your ecu settings.

If the dealer/Tuner wants to charge more than £40, and you have a laptop, then get an OP-COM from ebay, and you'll be able to reprogramme your own immobilser/keys along with all the error code reading/clearing you'll ever need thumbsup
