Last night at the hot marques was my first experience of the VX on track!! What an experience, hear are a few highlights: Only 20 cars booked in so track was nice and clear and ideal for learning Stayed dry the whole night so got full benefit of my r888 (which are barely legal just now!) Me and co driver Bob constantly trying to improve lap times Me being the one of the only ones lifting my hand as a first timer during briefing Bob being hit on the head by some rubber coming off the straight while watching some of the 911 gt3's Absolutly loved every minute of it fastest lap was just under 70 secs which for the first time with no training (apart from bobs!) is pretty good so i have been told Bob has some nice pics and i will upload when i recieve. Defo fallen back in love with the vx after spending money getting it ready for the track day! Anyone with one that doesnt take on track defo needs to do it! I would defo recommend bob as a co driver to anyone, he certainly pushes you! ;)

AHEM NO!!!!
It's all theory from watching top gear and a driver day 9 years ago.
I was just telling you to go for it because you needed someone to give you the confidence. Use the width of the track, power on earlier and use your gears to slow down - That's all I told you!
You'll need to shout the same at me when I go out! :)

Your fastest lap was when I kept shouting "Don't let that 350z get away, you've got him through these bends"

Amazing fun though and amazing how much you times improved over the night. I'll have a look at the photos later on but I think I managed to pan a couple of them and make it look like you were actually going fast! :P

So Mr Donkey, what's the time to beat around Knockhill then?

What does a seasoned pro like yourself do it in?

use your gears to slow down

I was taught that with improved brake compounds it is now considered better practice to use the brakes to slow you down (that's what they're for etc) and then be ready to change into the correct gear for the corner. thumbsup

Totally agree that you can rely on them more nowadays, but not from 95mph all the way down to about 25mph for a hairpin with no change down though. Wivvy was cooking his brakes cause he was using no gears at all at first. Making a HORRIBLE noise when they heated up.
He was still using his brakes heavily towards the end but was using his gears as well which meant he could approach the corners faster. thumbsup

Ha ha..... When Wivvy and I were on track I was the one shouting "floor it" and "Less brakes" but if he was driving my car I'd be shouting the opposite!

Car is sitting up in CLCM at the moment with willie about to work his magic, so at some point soon you may see the VX track virgin out on the bends of KH!!! :)

Jon, Can you time Mr Donkey round the track to see what his lap times are? Wivvy did a nats-baw-hair under 70secs with a passenger so I'd be interested to see what "Sh** seasonsed-pro" donkey does it in???

If it's quick I might have to wait to get my 2.4inlet and P&P TB on first! :)

Bob todays not the best session to try for any sort of Pb, 60 cars on track, wet and only 2hrs IIRC In the caterham I was lapping around 64secs The quick guys are lapping under 60sec laps Wullie at CClm will sort you out and the 2.4 does make a difference. Myself and Donkey had a drag race from a standing start on the back straight and my car with the 2.4 was quicker, not loads but noticeable

Yeah, it was dry and only 20 cars total in the session on Wednesday. Some of the quick guys ini the Evo's and GT3's were leaving us standing at points, and were lapping in the low 60's

I really want to fit this 2.4inlet, but I know I'll make a cock-up of it somehow and since it's my daily driver I can't afford for it to be off the road. Just wish I knew someone that had fitted one before! ;)

i think craig will be along shortly to tell you the amazing straight line speed advantage he had with his 2.4 and his funky exhaust manifold :gayfight:

Had a brilliant day though ive definately improved leaps and bounds since my last KH experience and i was actually being held up a few times today. proof if ever it were needed that its not the car that needed improving, just me. love my wee car. thumbsup
