So if you have the revised version, at what mileage is it advised to replace the timing chain??

theoretically never, but i'd change it at 100k

Brum Lives!!!

Finally got my car back last night after 3 weeks and it seems to be running well so far! actually it's a lot better as it's had a good service too.

I ended up getting:
Timing Chain Kit
Balance Shaft chain Kit,
Belt Tensioner,
Head Set,
Head Bolts,
6 x valves,
The head had to be sent off to have the valves seated and the head skimmed,
Engine Mounts, and service parts fuel/oil/air filters, oil, spark plugs.

A friend of mine was doing the work so I was able to hinder progress help out a bit and have learnt loads about my little plastic roller skate. I'm definitely not as scared of it as I was before and think that i'd be able to tackle more jobs myself now.

Thanks to everyone for their advice and help finding parts thumbsup

Yeah, it was a brilliant holiday. At first I was a bit disappointed to find out it's not a big apple at all, it's a city with buildings and stuff. :D
