As far as I remember, I thought you had to clear the error messages...
OP COM info on VX220.org WIKI
In the install CD there is a pdf on Airbag Coding - I think the second screenshot shows where you want to be, and then just clear the fault codes.

Have you fixed the fault that caused the light to come on?
DG
Well the fault was, I removed the airbag and then had to move the car, so moved it with out the airbag attached. It is now all fitted back. Have tried the fuse 8 trick, but that hasn't worked.

Same with mine. Air bag out, move car so the light comes on. Reinstall the air-bag, clear the codes then reflash the squib code bit with the right variation...seatbelt tensioners and driver airbag (I think).
Ok so i cleared the codes and reflashed the squib code. Checked the fault codes and all clear. Turned ignition off then one, airbag light still one.
Now with fault codes:
00052 - Control Unit (Squib Code) not Programmed Present
00053 - Squib Circuit Code Mismatch Present
00038 - Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance Not present
00036 - Driver Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance Not present
Have a f**ked it?? am I going to have to take it to vauxhall to get it sorted??? Also now the engine light stays on until I start the car, which handbook says that means a fault with the immobilizer, but there are no fault codes for the immobilizer when I checked.

Try again going through the instructions and following for as if it is a new ecu...

Done that, still doesn't work, it is like the ECU isn't holding the programming. Think I need to take it in

How many times was the ignition on with the airbag disconnected? A colleague of mine who works with airbag ECU software did mention to me that the ECU may be programmed to only be reset a finite number of times (in the case of Conti-Temec ones, not that these are fitted to the VX).

As per FLD, I did not have problems resetting the airbag ECU/light...
Can you remember which programming option you used?? Driver Only or driver Only Without Pretensioner??

Pretty sure it wasCan you remember which programming option you used?? Driver Only or driver Only Without Pretensioner??
Front airbag Config - Driver only
Pretensioner Config - Driver & Passenger
All others - not in use
Then when confirmation of programming ok, cleared error codes

I've tried to clear the fault codes, and the airbag light goes out briefly but it goes straight back on. Same error codes.
I also have never been given the option of the airbag coding SAB8 on my op-com program. Any ideas?
The only way I managed to fixed mine, was to send my Airbag control unit off to a guy on ebay, he charged me £25 and he completely reset the EDU and reprogrammed it for me. I just reinstalled it and the light went out.
Everyone was telling me it was the squib at fault, but me logic was if you get the error code - ECU not programmed and mismatch something must be wrong with the airbag control unit

Hope this helps

I have the same problem with my light on. Have just had Mike at Sports Car Services run a diagnostic and he is going to sort for me. Will let you know what he does.
I'll give that a try
