I'm just trying to guage interest. I have fabricated a alumium bracket that mounts the standard 2 pot AP onto the rear and replaces the brembo. However the bracket mounts off two of the hub bolts. The problem with this is that the hub carrier cast brembo style mounting has to be machined off. What this means is that the brembo can never be but back on and you will therefore have no handbrake. In my case I have a second pair of hub carriers and when the car needs to be mot'd I can swop the hub carriers and stick the brembo back on. In addition to this the rear brake lines will need to be changed and two longer hub bolts obtained. To much hassle I think for most but this is an option. I can post a pic of the fabricated bracket if anyone is interested.

Those are for ali S1 rear uprights where the original knuckle-mounts can be unbolted from the uprights and these put in their place.

Cast-iron uprights like the VX and S2 Elise can't use this adapter.

Similar brackets area avilable to convert the mounting, but they only work with (much) bigger brake discs as they also space out the caliper a lot.

Bye, Arno.

Its just that with many replacing the front with 4 pots the original 2 pots are lying around doing nothing.

Why not put them on the leading edge of the disc instead of the trailing, using the other two bolts to mount it. You can leave the brembo on just for the handbrake and plumb the hose into the other caliper. I'm sure someone on here has already done this. A black speedster IIRC

Edit - it was OGR

One of my aims is to loose unsprung weight. Those brembos are heavy.

Could do a similar thing but replace the brembo with a wilwood mechanical spot caliper, very small, very light and disgned for exactly this problem.

Doesn't having 2 calipers on the rear make it harder to keep the disks cool?

no, because the smaller one is just used for the handbrake.

Even so, I would think that when you release the handbrake the pads will still just about touch the disk even if applying no pressure, thus making cooling harder...

well the rear discs are the same size as the front and putting the front calipers on the rear makes it basically identical to the front setup.. i very much doubt that cooling will be at all effected.
