In that post it is mentioned at the bottom by Duncan that he was going to use a heatgun then push a restrictive part of the airbox back to open it up a little more. To save on thread revival i'll use this one to ask the Q. Which part of the box would you heatgun? Presumably the top left corner bit and not the part that forces the air up into/through the filter!?this is what i did, no probs in a year

Oh it's getting done on saturday. Looks like it's going to get turned into swiss cheese as well unless someone can give me a comprehensive guide/explanation (preferably with pics) as to what Courtenay do when modding the airbox!?Just do it
I get the removing of trumpets but they say to drill a 52mm hole and insert a trumpet flush with the box then seal it (tigerseal?!). I need to know where to drill the hole and what they use as a trumpet (just a standard piece of pipe?!)

It looks as though they have just recycled one of the trumpets to fill in the extra hole you drill!?

Thing is this picture doesn't have the raised bit up to the filter that cheeky's did so is this the N/A's airbox or the top half of the Turbo airbox? OR is this what I need to do?

I know that's what I was thinking! Wish I knew which thread I got it from (I saved the pic but didn't bookmark the pageLooks like a completely different filter box

I'll have a proper look at the box when it's out and try to guage what Courtenay do by looking at what I have to work with!

I came across this picture somewhere on the forum and i'm wondering if this is the Courtenay mod!?

That is an NA air box and whilst I have the Courtney mod on the VXR I haven't had the liner off to have a look. You could always just call then and ask what it is they do if you don't get a result. I suspect they do something similar as shown on the NA air box. Its what I did to my old NA many years ago.

Cheers Steve. I'll have a look tomorrow when it's out!Courtenay basically just drill a 2" hole at the top (if it were mounted) of the airbox Pretty much adjacent to the original air inlet. As long as it's on the right side of the filter it will be fine. AMM issues only really occour when using oiled filters like K&N cone filters.
Is there any difference in sound between drilling the hole where Courtenay do and just drilling a few holes in the bottom?

So after drilling the hole is it just left open as is or do you need to add an additional piece of pipe into it (or one of the removed inner trumpets)?I think because it's at the top the dump valve noise is more noticable as it is closer to the cabin. Plus there is a nice big area to drill.

Got on wellHow did you get on?
Took my filter off today too, already removed the trumpets on mine so just a filter change and look at the flexi tubing. It's 80mm and I can't find any local.

A huge thanks to Darren (redvts) who did 99.9% of the graft for both Phil and myself!
I am hugely pleased with the results! The sound is

Next on my list is a new plenum/top hat from Courtenay with pipe work

+1 Darren is an Effing star. Cheers Buddy and thanks for the drive. I've just managed to prize my nails out of the palms of my hands!

With the Airbox mod it definitely sounds more purposeful under acceleration and the 'dump' is more audible as well
