What it does is let the engine spin up quicker in all gears and sap less engine power in doing so. Thus allowing you to use more of the engine's power to accelerate the car.

I could go into the laws of rotating mass being a multiple and that saving 5KG of rotating mass is a good as losing 15kg of static mass blah blah blah but I don't actually know what I am talking about at all.

In fact, I am the stupid one Fab is talking about.

I have been reading into this a little about stuff like virtual weight loss, effective bhp gain in each gear following the reduction in the power used to spin the internals. Although this won't see any gains on the 'power graph', it seems like a great mod though. Is it a pig to install?

My clutch @ 50k looked almost brand new so it has gone back in again! It is a right bugger to fit, I did it with the engine out but I suspect you can also do it with the gearbox out instead.
