My airbag light came on a few weeks ago, connected it to the OP-COM reader and got the following error codes;

00038 - Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance
Present

00031 - Driver Airbag Squib Circuit High Resistance
Present

00036 - Driver Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance
Present

and

00052 - Control Unit (Squib Code) not Programmed
Present

00053 - Squib Circuit Code Mismatch
Present

00038 - Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance
Present

00036 - Driver Pretensioner Circuit Low Resistance
Present

I followed the instructions on the >wiki< and tried programming the Airbag from scratch but to no avail. Then I removed it and sent it away to be reset but I am still getting the same error messages.

Can anyone help?

I've aldo tried clearing the faults, only for the light to temporarily go out, then it goes straight back on one second later.

Have you replaced the squib?? It is the only other thing I can think of.

Does the VX share the same squib as another VXL, like the Corsa C or thelike.

I am not sure, they are about £50 + VAT from Vauxhall (I think)

I'm after one but there are loads on eBay for about a tenner but I don't know which squib is the same as the VX. Anyone know?

I've just taken my steering wheel off and I cant see how the squib detaches, the tiny hex bolts have been rounded. Does anyone know if taken these out is necessary? It appears it's the same as a Corsa squib so I have bought one from eBay for a fiver.

Airbag ECU reset, brand new airbag squib fitted. All programmed on my OP-COM, and same error messages coming up. Please someone tell me wtf is going on!? I don't want to have to take it to VXL :(

Well. It seems that no one knew the answer so Vocky suggested I try a different ECU which he kindly supplied, and voila the airbag light is out and there are no fault codes. If Vocky was there I would have kissed him there and then!

This lead me to believe that the ECU I had 'reset' had in fact not been reset at all, so I have sent it back to them.

However in conclusion, Vocky saves the day again Imnotworthy

I had a similar problem. I think the op-com software is a bit sensitive on its install as I found some functionality worked and some didnt. Several reinstalls and and it works. I ended up going to vauxhall to sort it whilst I got the software sorted. They were good. I told them what the problem was and what needed doing. Given they didn't need to do diagnostics (and I think because I knew what I was talking about) they only charged me 15 quid for an abs reflash.
