Got a fancy-pants stereo in the VX installed by previous owner that I never listen too (VSE drowns out all!!) so looking to swap that into my new daily driver but want to fill the resultant gap in the dash.. Anyone got a 'standard' Vauxhall/other stereo taking up space that will fit? Not even bothered if it works that well, tbh (I still won't listen to it!) - just needs to be as close to £free as possible! Ta.. :)

Yep and it is a Kenwood or Panasonic - not sure the model at the moment, but you could have it for less than the annual £5 spending limit (re:crazyfrog). So how does FREE (just cover the postage sound).

I don't have the original box for it (as it came in the VX when I bought it), but should have a spare box in the attic for it to go in - save it picking up any further scratches - it isn't aesthetically mint. But the sound quality is pretty good (not like shitty sub-£100 halfraud units, though the screen does lack a little contrast in bright sunshine.

> Saying that when driving in direct sunlight I often cannot read the speedo - not a good excuse if I get stopped for speeding though! 3points could easily become 6 or 9.

VDO was the standard unit in the NA, and a Sony upgrade was available IIRC.

Right I have been and got the stereo out of the attic. It is a Pioneer DEH544R - as I said it is fairly tired looking, but it is free.

As for postage I couldn't really say - less than £11 I would be pretty sure of. I'll try and get to the post office tomorrow and get it sent.

PM me your contact details and I'll let you know when it has gone (If you want it Recorded delivery I can do that and then send you the tracking number).

Before anyone says it - Yes I am a Yorkshireman and I am not being tight.....!

Oh... Some pics for reference:

I have some dog crap that you can stuff in the gap. It'd do a better job than the VDO Dayton which came as standard

Hey,

if it is a benefit to take Savvy's then do so, I have been landed with a belting project at work and am not going to make it to the PostOffice until Saturday morning at the earliest.

I presume he is closer and therefore may save you on postage... If not I'll get leave her in bed whilst in nip to the PostOffice early doors Saturday.

Not far off, at least it plays CD's and has a clock. My last company car had a tape deck (It was some time ago-but not that long ago). I understand there is an upgrade for the VDO unit to include a temperature gauge to measure outside temperatures... Handy.
