Hi,
Our VX needs a service and MOT. We stay just outside Glasgow but are willing to travel further afield if it means it gets done properly and by someone who actually knows what they are doing. We were recommended somewhere in Dumfries but can't find the details of the garage anymore. If anyone can recommend anywhere in central scotland that would be great!
We've had a couple of bad experiences with muppets 'fixing' the car so I'd like to make sure we don't go through that heartache again!
Thanks in advance.
Ali
I have used this garage and it is very good knows the vx well and understands its your pride and joy he is working on . The only down side is its West Linton not a lot to do there when waiting on your car.

Dreadnaught are really TVR and performance MG's - I know this as I used to use them when I owned a Tamora and Tuscan.
Owners son used to have an Elise and do lots of other Elises so they know the cars very well, I have had zero issues with them and they recently did my radiator as a rush job and for a very reasonable price. Yes they are MG and TVR specialists but that is by no means all they do. I have heard stories about Falkland but will not say anything as I have not personally used them.
In the end remember it is just an Astra engine so any spanner monkey could service it for you, the problems come in when you have clam removal etc.
Anyway it is up to the owner and they can make there own judgement, if you go on to Scottish Elises you can also ask the same question and will get a big range of garages to chose from as it is more Scottish focused.
I have nothing to do with Dreadnaught by the way

A Scottish Run! Sounds good - my Mandarin will like that!
Great another colour for the pics

No idea, loch tay is a good run or we could try the Borders and take in the Jim Clark and David Coulthard museums. When the nights get longer and warmer we should try a Dukes pass run and BBQ on a week night evening as it is quieter and any excuse for a BBQ.

There's a Vauxhall garage in Dumfries (James Haughs - used to be Coles). Is that the one? I was in the other day and notcied some Thorney literature. Turns out that they are an approved Thorney official motorsport performance centre.Hi,

Dont forget the strathaven - muirkirk road - it's built for VX's
We could also do some events at Kames
First kames plug of the year?
Btw I'd avoid any vauxhall dealer, TMS recommended or not

As for a Scottish run, that sounds like fun! I'll keep logging on more often and see what the craic is.
Cheers guys.
They seem to be a little better attended now and a little more often so watch out for them.
As for the BBQ idea, I have a little portable gas BBQ that is brilliant for this kind of thing because you can open it up and get it cooking in minutes!

At some point in the summer I want to do a round trip round to Dunoon where I was born. The rest and be thankful road is a belter in good weather.
I propose we get a run organised for the end of March at some point. How does that sound to everyone?
