Just run code reader through the car, needs new crank sensor. Got the part, but cannot for the life of me find where it goes. Is it near the EGR valve behind injectors?

Good luck its a nightmare to get to  .If you look where the oil filter housing is you should see a pipe from oil cooler going into back of engine if you put your hand near this pipe (black rubber) you should feel the wires to the sensor good luck on getting it out just to plug the wiring loom in is  not good.

:yeah that:
Its a pain, just above the starter and below the oil filter housing. It sort of nestles in an alcove all of its own!

not sure if you need to take both undertrays off, but take them off, and have a look up, you will see the starter motor, and its directly ontop of it, in a little alcove you will see the wire coming out of it.. its easyist to get out, its a twat to put back in..
