Hello! I'm planning to remove my EGR-valve this weekend. I have bought a EGR-sheater from Z22SE.co.uk When I got the sheater I decided to pot it in silicone to make it waterproof. But now when it has been completely covered in silicone I have started to think that this little piece might get hot when used  Does anyone know if the sheater get hot during use or is it safe to do as I have done?

No idea about getting hot, but we had a whole bunch of 2.4 built ins and egr removals and one of the guys built the cheaters based on the schema, and wrapped them real good:

We have been driving around with them for months now, and no one complainted yet.

I made a cheater circuit from a schematic I found on here nearly a year ago, finally got round to making a blanking plate a couple of weeks ago but when I wired in the cheater the car started fine but I had no throttle at all!

Checked the wiring but the colours didn't match what the instructions said should be there so I wired it in using the pin numbers not the colour codes, couldn't get the bloody thing to work so had to refit the EGR with one bolt off to the side of the blanking just to make the circuit.

Would like to get rid of the rather heavy piece of metal once and for all.

Does anyone know the correct connection for this colour code?

Black
Brown/blue
Black/blue
Black/white
Black/brown

Going by the pins I had it connected as:

Pin A = Black
Pin B = Brown/blue
Pin C = Black/blue (Not connected)
Pin D = Black/white
Pin E = Black/brown

The car starts but there is no throttle at all!

Any help would be appreciated??

Cheers

the 2.4 manifold didnt have what was needed to run the EGR valve, as the standard 2.4 engine didnt have one (i think) so you have to fool the ecu in to thinking its still there and working correctly.. this is what its for..

can also be used by people who have a duff EGR and dont want to replace it.

Means you can shed a few kg's of weight and all of the sh!t that the engine produces goes out of the exhaust. Instead of being recirculated back into the inlet manifold and caking the engine side of the throttle body in God only knows what.

Say you dont have a 2.4 manifold installed, are there any benefits to having it removed anyways? edit: I think techie just answered my question

For the full weight saving benefit on the standard 2.2 engine, you should also remove the heavy metal pipe that pipes the fumes back into the inlet manifold. Will mean removing the manifold as you need plug the hole that is left behind. Usual method is a 2p or 10p piece siliconed into the hole. :D

Another (slight) benefit to removing the return tube, is it sticks out into the airflow after the throttle body, so you get a cleaner flow thumbsup I tried but failed to remove the pipe without removing the inlet manifold so I reckon its about a 1 hour job to remove the whole lot.

Yeah that's the info I had but these are the colours of my loom?

Black
Brown/blue
Black/blue
Black/white
Black/brown

They no matchy! Tried matching to the Pins instead but that resulted in Zero throttle response!

Maybe the cheater is duff or is now if I wired it in wrong!

I Will have to try again, if only there was a long weekend coming so i could work on the car!

Could be. I fooked mine by mistake in wiring, and had to get a new one.

I fooked my cheater by reading pins from left to right, instead of right to left.
Here's a pic of how i finally fitted it ok.

(egr green was replaced with white in later versions)

Bear in mind, it's from a speedster, so i take 0 responsability of
anything that goes wrong with your car. It worked on mine, but you never know.
