2) Renault 19 16v Ph2 (Hated it)
3) Seat Ibiza GTI 16v (Loved it)
4) VX220 NA (Written off)
5) Metro Rio (Winter shed)
5) VX220 NA (Hit by a bus, written off)
6) Proton GE ( )
7) VX220 NA Stg2+ (Fcuking love it)

Hiya mate,

Sorry, but I can't see the mention of a certain Proton on that list.....

In order - no sniggering at the back.... First cars : Nova 1.0 saloon - my first car after university - super fun, 4 wheel drifting around Bedminster Bridge roundabout in Bristol in the wet - those were the days. Volvo 440 GLT - I loved this car, makes the VX look curvy. I still get a funny feeling when I see one now... Saxo VTS - I loved this car so much, I kept it for 8 years! I wish I'd never got rid of it - it was such a B road blast. I let it go for peanuts in the end :( VX220 NA - My first rear-wheel, almost 12 months of ownership old and the bestest-funnest car ever. Second cars (i.e. bangers and family mundano-wagons) : Nova 1.2 4 door hatch - 'our' first ever second-car - it was pretty pants - never ran right, but it was fun when it went. Rover 216 auto in grandad blue - 'our' second ever second car, and the only Auto, the only fun I had in this was trying to not get it to change down to first when slowing for roundabouts. It was a battle of wills between my right foot, and the auto box - needless to say the auto box won every time... Mondeo 2.0 diesel - 'our' third ever second car. It's a diesel, it's a Mondeo, it's adequate... I think it's safe to safe, Ive never driven a bad car (not even the Daewoo Nexia I borrowed from work once), only bad roads... Most fun has to be my first experience of lift-off oversteer at 40 on a wet roundabout in the VTS. I still don't know how I managed to get off at my exit - I just shut my eyes and used the force :)

1991-93 X reg blue Mini (aka Horace) - awesome car to learn to drive in. had to be scrapped after a p*ss poor and potentially fatal welding repair near the seat belt mountings 1993-96 D reg green/grey VW Polo C - lovingly tweaked by my dad 'n' me until it went like the clappers. eventually killed by a dustbin lorry reversing up onto the bonnet. what an undignified end: still makes me sad. 1996-97 F reg white Pug 309 - my mum's old car. hideous. nothing ever worked properly. i eventually gave it my brother as a 'present'. hehehehehehehehe 1997-2001 N reg red Honda Civic Vtec - my first purchase with all my own money 2001-2004 51 reg silver SKoda Fabia Estate - an absolutely cracking car: bit like driving the polo again but you can fit a cello in the boot. killed by a stupid bitch driving into the side of it on a country road - she was late for the wedding i had just left. the reception proved to be interesting though... 2003-2004 53 reg blue Skoda Fabia Hatch - ditto, but easier to park in town 2004-2005 03 reg blue Skoda Octavia 1.9Tdi Hatch - never really gelled with this one for some reason 2005-now 55 reg graphite Skoda Octavia 1.9Tdi Estate - absolutely love it. great for hauling round dogs/cement mixers/recycling etc etc and quite fun to drive if you keep it right up on the edge of its abilities. 2007-now 03 silver VX220 na - words cannot begin to describe the ecstacy.........

That sounds scarily familiar - I bought my S1 Exige in late 2003, engine went pop (bottom end for me) and cost me £3500 to fix, I then sold it January 2nd 2004.

Quite a few Exige S1's engines have gone pop, mine was a common head gasket failure I was lucky that I got a short engine from Lotus, a great car but very fragile.

Actually that's what was so appealing when I bought the VXT, an Opel lump that costs Euro 2,300 for a new engine.

Cheers
Ian

Ah, this book has many covers  Don't get too surprised though - I meant 'back' as in pillion, not as in driving...

Anyway, ditto what you said - was mighty surprised when Chris told me...
