Champion! Top speedy replies as always. Thanks to you both and praise be to the forum chinky chinky

Will phone Autovaux tomorrow. However, assuming that the price is ridiculous, would these do:

Ebay Bolts

or

Ebay Bolts 2

I know the head looks different, but i'm not precious about the torx look.

From Vauxhall

Bolts (11098761) are 46p inc. VAT each
O rings (90528438) are 2.59 inc. VAT for 10

So grand total of £7.19

From Autovaux

10 Bolts and 10 O Rings - All in inc. VAT = £4.70

bit of a Hi-Jack, but does anyone know this same info for the Z22SE? I'm going to be getting my cover powder coated, and some fancy new nuts and bolts would make a nice addition.

EDIT: TIS says that for a metal cover I'll need 14 x 11519782 (part #5) does anyone know the thread type?

TBH it's pretty hard (if not impossible) to disturb the rocker gasket by taking these bolts out. The coil pack, rocker breather pipes and cam cover all hold it in place.

One of mine snapped, didn't think I'd told anyone about that :) I'm just gonna buy the one. Be careful re-torqing as mine snapped at 15nm.

Picked them up from AutoVaux at the weekend. Normally between my neighbour and myself, we have a good selection of tools. But no joy on these bolts. I guess I need a torx socket? But I don't want to buy a set, as I've never used torx sockets in my like. Torx keys yes. 1. So what size do I need? 2. What torque to I need to tighten them to? Obviously not 15nM !! 3. And where can I get one? Ta muchly.

Will have a look and let you know the size later. 15nm is very little, most torque wrenches don't even measure that low. I'd say nip it till its tightish but dont put any real pressure on it. The bolts don't really need to be torqued as the are not stressed in operation anyway. I'm just a bit fanatical (read uber sad) about torquing things up :) Sockets and wrenches are both available from Halfords.

If your really stuck i find some imperial sockets fit torx heads quite nicely. Especially as they shouldnt be tight

Right. Tis done.

Here's the problem:

Here's the solution:

Thanks to Zoobeef. 5/16th" socket is absolutely ideal. The bolts were easy to get out, hardly torqued at all. I did WD40 them the day before though. On replacement, I just nipped them up and then quarter turn. There were no o-rings on the rusty bolts I took out.

I cleaned the rocker cover up with white spirit, and then used brasso and a small suede (wire) brush, to scrub the rusty hole surrounds up.

On fitting the new bolts and o-rings, this is what happens to the o-rings:

So that's why there were non fitted! Don't buy them. Save yourself a quid.

Jobs a good 'un:

The o-ring description says 'O'RING,COVER TO CYLINDER HEAD, which indicates they are fitted to the underside of the cover

I bought 3 for the z22se, from vx and they were over £5. Robbing ba$ta8ds. Would try autovaux.
