Has anyone done an oil change on their charger yet whilst the charger is attached to the engine? I've just been out to do it and i couldn't get any oil out. I was using a thin flexy tube and a large syringe. There is oil in it because the tube comes out covered in a layer of oil. The tube is probably turning within the charger and completely missing the oil. Thing is I don't know how much is in there and therefore don't know if and by how much I should top it up  I tried jacking the car up to move the oil around just in case the tube was not getting to the right place but that didn't yield any oil. The guys on the cobalt forum seem to manage it but their chargers are probably orientated differently so that oil removal is easier. Anyone got any ideas?

well opinion on that differs if you go on the cobalt forum, anything from 15k to never.

Nick I think i know how to do it's just i'm not getting ANYTHING out which has confused me a bit. What i guess would help is a cut away of the gear chamber so I can work out what the pipes doing when i push it in through the drain hole. The tube goes in a good 6-7".

just take the charger off! only 4 bolts, 2mins to take the belt off, 2 mins to take air intake pipe off so you should have it off in less than 10mins! i cant see you having to change it every 15k... because mercedez change theres every 100k!

Its not a lot in there. Its 2 of the GM bottles (mini spares centre sell it). Think it was 200-300 mL. The oil is pretty viscous so you may have to pull the syringe and wait an age to get it to draw. The issue of air leaks in the syringe could the rear its head. I'd be taking it off to change.

Checked that the syringe is working fine, the oil is not that viscous, bit like machine oil i guess. The only place i found to get the oil was the US Ebay.

good link, I see that they recommend the 'syringe' method. Not it'll make any difference but its 100ml for the M62. I think the 110ml is used when the charger is vertically mounted.

The gm book says 2 bottles. The minispares centre sells GM bottles with their own sticker over the top. Think it was around 15 quid. Not sure how that compares to US ebay but its in the UK.

strangely enough with the postage from the states it works out to about the same with the current exchange rates.
