I need to change the meta alarm unit and am trying to take the dash off. But I cannot get the radio out, is there a security tool to remove it? I have a couple of fork like prongs but they wont do it. Is there an easy way to do it? :angry2:

The radio has sprung clips holding it into the dash which you need to depress to withdraw the radio.
Remove the front panel of the radio first ie the bit that drops down for you to insert Cds
To remove the radio I made a couple of removal tools out of wire coat hanger material. Simply cut 2 x 8 inch lengths and bend them into u-shaped hoops. Insert them in the holes which are in the top and bottom left and right edge of the radio. Push them in gently until they are fully home. Then gently apply a little outward pressure to each wire hoop to depress the spring clips. If you have done this right the radio should slide out by pulling on the hoops.

You can also get away with just using two small flat heads.

Helps if you have three hands (or failing that, someone to assist) so you can hold the 'keys' and pull the unit out at the same time.

Well I managed to remove the radio and was then able to remove the meta alarm, from under dash. I contacted sam at abacus alarms and he is sending me a re-programmed alarm and 2 new fobs by 1 o clock tomorrow. Great service. chinky chinky

Here's a piccy of the radio being removed. Hope this helps.

Edit: Doh! Too late.

Ok. So the lug on the cog finally broke off completely. Thought I'd give it a bodge before I started ordering bits from Blaupunkt mainly because I'm a tight Yorkshireman. Here goes:

Took the head unit out:

This is what's behind it. I have a pioneer subwoofer fitted:
