I am busy fitting THIS
I have just started to tighten it all back up but the bar has gone stiff in the bushes and they are trying to squeeze out towards the centre of the car. Anyone else come across this problem or any ideas on how to sort it without leaving it all off and waiting for EP to sort the proper parts?

Are you trying to use the original bushes? Those won't work, it should come with new mounts that replace the wishbone bolt.

New bushes came with the bar.
Not sure what you are talking about with the wishbone bolt?

I've took it back off and started again, it seems to have located better but it is still really tight and I would have thought this should be quite free to turn in the bushes.

My OE one is very stiff to move with both droplinks off.

Yeah so was mine. I was under the impression with the nylatron though it is meant to rotate in the bush whereas the standard does not and just uses the flex in the rubber. Not sure here but don't want to put it all together only to take it appart again. If by the wishbone bolt you were talking about the drop links then yes I have new drop links too. By the way did your door pins arrive?

Rotates in the rubber ones too. If you greased it then it should be fine, but others can confirm. The forces are quite high so being stiff is not a problem. Yes, pins look great. Meant to thank you but been out in the heat all week and brain fried. My doors should be ready in 10-14 days and then I'll actually be able to try the pins. ;)

Yes I picked the wrong day to do this job, been scorching and there's not much beer left in the fridge. I guess the bushes won't take long to "wear in" so should be ok.

Not sure on this ARB, but on the 1" one there's plastic tape wrapped around the bar where the bushes locate. Take this off.. It's only there to stop the powdercoat adhering to the bar. If this bar type does not have this tape on it, then you may need to sand/ream out the bushes a little. Make sure you grease 'em well BTW.. Bye, Arno.

It certainly has been a scorcher, been at the mother-in-laws in Brandon today. If I had know I would have popped down to give a hand if you'd have wanted it. I had assumed that there wod be a little pressure on the ARB by the bushes, but sure so little that would minimise the free rotation. Had always wondered whether a ballbearing joint would work more effectively- ie allow more free movement in two wheel bumps and reduce potential for squeaks and wear!

Take this off..

Yep, the Elise Parts 7/8" version has the same bit of protective tape. thumbsup

I spec'd mine with the uprated OEM style bushes (that use the existing ali clamp fixing) and it went on absolutley fine.

Right got it done more or less, (been adjusting my front camber too, back to 1.0 deg as I felt the 1.5deg was too much) The tape was there and I removed it before I started, but I took it all appart to check everything, the bushes actually go beyond where the tape was and hence over the powder coating. I used some emery tape and some wet n dry to finish it the gave the inside of the bush a bit of a polish with the wet n dry, it's not 100% how I would like it but it's OK now, before it took both hands to move it. Put it on the middle hole as a starting point. Thanks to those that helped. Oh and Mangham, typical wait till you drive past and get home before you offer to help :P

Yes thats the version I got, actually as I was sanding it down I notice a line of powder coating left after all the other metal was clean, probably a mark in the metal from bending, maybe my bar was a little oval or something.

I actually hadn't seen the post until my response, otherwise I would have been the first down Posted Image . ARB is on my list of things to do this coming winter so actually seeing/helping would have been a godsend, but heyho!

I hadn't quite set off when I posted, but had been given the job of delivering the missus to O2 at the Metrocentre by 6:30pm Posted Image to sort her phone out. As I drove past yours there were three peeps stood outside.... Don't know if that was you and your extra hands.Posted Image

Next time you are doing any work on the car on a weekend and want a pair of extra hands given me PM Posted Image

Nah I was round the back mate, and I was only joking, didn't really need a hand was just sick of the heat, pity though you could have picked up the door pins while you were here. Anyway been out for a drive, seems ok, there is definately one less knock from the susspension. Next job the rear tie rods and hopefully another knock killed off.

Well I got a few to kill off, but everytime I think I got one it comes back with a partner!

That and the fcuking brake squeaking! I love the car, but it is a conundrum of it's own

Might do the tie rods tomorrow depending on what time I get up, got that exhaust bracket to do as well which I thought would be ideal to do along with the tie rods.

BTW Mangham if you wanna do yours and would like a hand from someone who's done one by all means bring it to mine one weekend, we'll get it done in a crack if we do a side each, also made a couple of niffty tools to get to those bolts that hold it on, no need to undo the wishbone and no messing on turning an allen key 1 flat at a time.

Sounds awesome. Will definitely look you up at the time. I'll try and pop through for the anti-rattle door pins soon. Away for the next few weekends but defo want them still.
