I'm going to have a go at refurbing my nearside ap caliper after a second failure. I've got the kit from eliseparts but was hoping for a little info before I give it a go. I can find plenty of giudes for the brembo caliper refurb but nothing for the ap.
Is it fairly straight forward? Any special tools that would come in handy?

Did mine last night. Too late now but the eliseshop kit is cheaper.
Fairly easy job tbh I replaced my brake lines for braided ones at the same time.
1. Jack the car up and remove wheel
2. Unbolt caliper assembly and remove pads
3. Put a block of wood between the pistons (big enough to stop the pistons from coming out)
4. Press the brake pedal till the pistons grip the wood (pedal will go hard)
5. Attach pressure bleeder and drain system.
6. Remove brake pipe from caliper with 13mm spanner
7. Carefully remove pistons and pour the fluid inside the caliper away.
8. Use a small flat head driver and remove both inside seals
9. Soak new seals in brake fluid for 30 mins
10. Clean the crap off your caliper with soapy water and dry off
11. Fit new seals
12. Fit new pistons
13. Refit caliper
14. Replace fluid
15. Bleed the system
Job done
If you have any problems Rich just give me a shout.
eta - You could clamp the line if you dont have braided hoses to avoid some of the nasty bleeding but you will have to do some anyway.

Cheers Steve
Sounds pretty painless, I have braded hoses already but need to change the fluid anyway so might as well get it all done while I'm there.
Might be in touch if I get stuck!

can anyone tell me which front barke refurb kit is the one to get for a 2001 NA?
Is it the slightly more expensive S1 kit or the S2 kit?
both here:

Did mine as per the steps SteveA posted above.
Just a couple of points to add.
I used wooden skewers to get the old seals out incase I slipped and scratched the caliper.
I had to invert my calipers when bleeding to get all the air out.
Process described here http://wiki.seloc.or...leed_the_brakes

I bought the S2 kit.

I take it you do these in pairs or just to one if you have a sticky caliper?
