I'm looking at putting together a road trip to the Monaco GP next yr, and I know I need to move quick as all the cheap accomodation books up quick. I am on a mission to do it as cheap as possible too lol Prob driving over 2 days before, stopping half way down france over night and then getting either a hotel in Nice (then train it to Monaco) or a campsite somewhere in that general area, near decent public transport links to Monaco. Has anyone done this before that could offer any advice on decent places to stay, where is best to watch the race from etc? Cheers Ali

http://www.campingro...ome_camping.htm

Thanks, I looked at that but it's set up on a hill which takes an hour to cycle down! no room in the vx for a bike (and i don't own one lol), There's the option of driving down the hill i guess? but that would mean no :drink:

Thanks for all the info :)

if not then train from Menton, camping up on the hill there too. Anywhere near Cannes will be booked up too.

Have found some uber cheap 2 bedroom, self catering apartments in Nice, 4 nights for 300 Euro with underground parking and it's near the train station! It doesn't look much but for £10 a night per person it's better than sleeping in a tent! Plus, any time not spent watching the brum brums i'll be at the beach which is 300mtrs down the road :D B) If anyone is seriously interested in going let me know, but it is going to be done on a budget so don't expect swanky digs and grandstand seats for the race!

We stayed in Menton france, it was about 20 mins on the train from Monaco. I think the hotel was the Prince Charles de Galle or similar. Hotel was right on the beach and breakfast on the terrace was lovely. I think the whole trip including flights, hotels and tickets were under £300. On the Sat we got touted tickets for the start finish straight with lunch (was some cafe) for 40 euros. On the Sunday were were in section Z1 (swimming pool) just across from the yaughts (zoom lens required to see the lovelys on board).

Tips -

Get touted tickets for Sat just after 1st Quaily starts as they go right down in price
Get your program and head down to the teams just after quaily to get your autographs etc
Take your own beer as £6 a warm fosters sux
Say a night either side as it makes the hotel cheaper than the 2 days.
KLM to Nice then train to whereever you stay.

If I think of more I will let you know.

I've found this site which gives an idea of how much the tickets cost for all the different grandstands around the track. http://www.monaco-gr...com/en/TICKETS/

just realised this may clash ( or work out nicely ) with a return trip to Le Mans Bugatti
