Had this all set and ready for the VXR.

There are differing opinions on Chargecoolers but all agree Pro-Alloy are the daddies!!!

This system started life as the Pace system that Courtenays used on their stage IV cars up to 270bhp. The main problem that prevented these system being effective past 270bhp was a small volume Pre-Rad, and the low water circulation speeds due to the system using 10mm pipework. (That said I know 'M3 BFG' was happily pushing 290bhp with the standard Pace Chargecooler).

Courtenays eventually changed over to the Pro-Alloy systems as this system uses a much higher volume Pre-Rad, and 19mm pipework. This combined with a five core exchanger and an up-rated Bosch pump allows the Pro-Alloy system to apply significantly more cold water where it's needed to keep the inlet temps down in extreme circumstances.

Now this hybrid system was developed primarily by Courtenay Sport and was sent to Pro-Alloy for all modification. The low volume components have been replaced with Pro-Alloy components, and the rest of the system has been modified by Pro-Alloy from 10mm to 19mm. The low volume Pre-Rad and restrictive pipework that plagued the original system have been engineered out completely, leaving a very efficient high volume, high flow system that will handle well over 300bhp with ease!!!!

Ended up selling a large portion of the kit to an NA looking to Supercharge.

So I have leftovers, and information.

  • Pace Heat Exchanger. Modified by Pro-Alloy to 19mm bore.
  • Pace Header Tank. Modified by Pro-Alloy to 19mm bore.

Combine this with about £600 worth of Pro Alloy parts available from Courtenays and you have a full charge cooler system capable of 300+bhp

An absolute steal at £250 as opposed to £800+

Shite Jimmy that is cheap. You can't even make a heat exchanger for that money let alone with the header tank. Bargain for anybody looking Tubby Stage three on.
