I know that there are a few people on here with elise/111r/exige shocks and springs on their car, but has anyone fitted the lowering brackets to bring the ride height down? I was just wondering what people did with the ABS unit as the lowering brackets don't have an extra bit on them to hold up the ABS box? Anyone got any suggestions as I'm considering getting some.

IIRC Exmantaa has and fabricated an extra bracket for the ABS.

how much are they? I took all the measurements to get custom springs made so that you could lower the rear as well. Just CBA as the ride hight has never really bothered me.

It's 49.95 for the 4 brackets and they can lower 15mm or 25mm at all corners. My 111r shocks raise the car by about 5-10mm so just a little bit lower so that I can get under the height restrictions at the McD drive through would be nice!

Didn't think you could use the rear brackets on the VX?

No, but Eliseshop sells them as a set of 4. Think EliseParts sells the fronts only for a bit less. have a pic somewhere of that ABS bracket, but it's simple.

the ride hight is 145mm all round (so +5mm) on my car, I measured it as part of looking at new springs.

As said above the rear bracket is welded to the subframe so you can only drop the front.

Edit actually if there are 5+ people interested then we could get faulkner springs to custom make springs for £100 a set.

Would the springs need to be separated from the shocks then? Is it easy to do?

I fitted my own lowering brackets at the front, the ABS unit was mounted on a big rubber thing, I chopped 10mm off this the same amount I raised the brackets by but I reckon the brake hoses would be flexible to a degree anyway. Pretty simple once you see what it is like under there. By the way how much do you reckon the Elise brackets will lower it?

hmmm this sounds interesting. Do you know what the S2 Bilstein spring lengths/inside diameters are for the front and rears?

Would the springs need to be separated from the shocks then? Is it easy to do?

Haven't tried it before but here is a link, head down to step 20.

You don't have to if you buy the Quantum brackets from EliseParts. They are sized such as the ABS unit bolts to them.

They are pretty straight forward to fit..

Ps. - I could prob fit them for you this weekend if it ain't pishing it doon, if you're heading up this way..

Hi G-Bob. With those Exige billies there's a cir clip on the rear ones that will lower the back slightly. Doesn't sort the front issue but definitely an improvement on the rear. Thought it worth mentioning as it's not well known.

Haha sure the insurance company who have lent me said Volvo would love that! Mind you not sure why the bloody thing is so high since their "crosscountry" is only 2wd!
