Well guys I was one of the 'Infamous 5' at the meeting.... I haven't got time to write a well excutioned post, so I'm just going to tell it as it is... especially as I want to sleep tonight.... I tell the truth as I see it..... - a meeting was called to discuss rumours about how club was being run (you've seen all these) - I was concerned when I learnt Thorney wasn't going to be there, but idea was to meet and discuss if there was any truth to rumours... so I did attend... I accept responsibility for that.... - there was no evidence at the meeting, other than some people's views - what was agreed was a Poll would be made, to ask members if they would like the club to be restructured and formalised - to prevent any further rumours, and provide back-up for server/forum and Thorney (note PureBob has been flammed - for just being good with the written word and posting the Poll !!) - hoping this would be yes, all water under the bridge would be left, and we would start again... - everyone there really had (we at least thought so :beat: the best interests of the club at heart - even though you might not think so... but the poll ran away in it's own world and rapidly became out of control... I have not seen any evidence that supports any of the rumours raised, other than the Public Liability at Brunters last year and the questions on the server fund - with the server fund issue IMHO beginning to be blown out of all proportion... I refuse now to hold any discussion on this without Thorney being in the room, this has really got out of hand and gone tits-up in a BIG BIG way... and emotion is beginning to blur the views of some good people... again IMHO. Let's all learn from this, and go fwd bigger and stronger. Mick

Not getting involved at all, but as my name was mentioned I'll post regarding that giving 3 senarios.

I used to run a private computer security community from my house.
We had about 700ish users
I was on a 512k up
It ran on a unix server
It cost me nothing besides my leased line which I owned anyway.

I know of other public communities similar to here in activity whom use hosting companies.
They are paying aprox £600 per year to keep it up.

Try asking the webmaster at scoobynet what that thing cost to keep up.
I know members are paying about £25 to help fund it along with all the sponsorship they get :o

I don't know what this place costs, it could be completly free, it could cost hundereds of pounds, it depends on whats involved.

Now just for the record, John posted 2 things. That he would donate clothing to Alain for organising the Swiss meet and second that the new server was up and running before xmas. I drove 260 miles to meet VEX to pick up the clothes. I then DONATED as was expected to Alain.

I was then asked to pay for all received, a little shocked, after 2 PM's and a lost address, I paid JT £100 pounds for the things GIVEN to Alain. I then added £50 pounds of my own cash to support the server fund.

I think I'm starting to understand the animosity now. We all agreed to donate some clothing to Alain however I was under the impression (as was Vex as I gave him a price list) that some was also for sale to the Euro members.

If I'd known you gave it away of course I wouldn't have accepted the money (if you remember I rejected the extra £50/£70 you offered).

If we'd been clearer with each other back then would be here now?

After wondering what happend to the server fund money, I asked for an assessment to be done on what the site had cost John Thorne. Well it transpired that £2.50 per year is what was being spent.

Actually you said it was costing nothing to host as it was shared with BM3W and RS246 which I was always very open about. I said I paid Matt Taylor via the help I gave him on the BM3W site. Then he bought a new server to which I contributed £500 and the 'server fund'.

I then asked a legal representative to look at the wording used by Mr Thorne for idependent "donations" to a server fund.

And what did he say? I have never asked for any donations of any kind.

The Colin Blower episond was farsical, they knew nothing of the site

Sorry to hear this, I've only mentioned it to Colin on about 100 occassions (everytime we met). It is also in the detailed sponsorship proposal which he proof read and signed off on.

nor Skiddo's generous offer to take photo's for free. They even asked for a CD of pic's taken over the weekend even after JT had told offered to do all publications (another thred me thinks)

Ditto, I even asked Colin how he wanted the shots, via email or via disk. I tried to introduce Skiddo to Colin but never managed to be in the same spot at the same time.

I have attached the old sponsorship file as evidence on Colin knowing about the site.

OK

I removed the pst and the document. The document I put up was an old draft which was sent to Jon Walsh at TV which he wanted changing (which it was). The purpose of the document was to show that Colin knew of the site as it was clearly put. Sorry, Jon has now left TV so its not fair to bring him into this as well. I put an old document up in error (I will cut and paste) the bits I was referring to and have sent an email to Monkey Boy apologising for posting the wrong document.

A few things to note...

I am still the editor of Total Vauxhall and as will act on anything which might harm the title
Total Vauxhall has not received any email or message
Total Vauxhall has not seen any draft of the document - old or new

To be fair, the quote is full of errors. In the general necessity for transparency, Total Vauxhall thinks the original post should be back up on the board. So the members can see what's going on.

Total Vauxhall is still waiting for a list of people/organisations which have seen this 'proposal'. Thanks for removing the link.

We await...

I sent an email to your email address on the site, I dont have your TV one. I did ring you but only got Jons direct line. I've never deleted a post before so I'm not sure what happens to it, I'll ask Pete to have a look in the DB. The document was never sent to anyone as I said it was a draft, the final version was never finalised. I'm just scanning in the original letter from Totoal Vauxhall for Clarity.

The prelim document sent was a private business document and we certainly don't want to see it splashed on the net. Please do bear this in mind.

Email sent. I agree the original document is on a commercial business nature, it does accurately reflect what was agreed. However I won't post it unless you agree. My apologies for getting you dragged into this, my only purpose was to show that Colin knew all about the VX site as he helped draft that document therefore stumpy is mistaken in his ascertion that Colin knew nothing thats all.

Lack of clarity leads to confusion, Confusion leads to mis-trust, Mis-trust leads to anger And anger leads to the dark side of the site. Let OB1 (Stu Harris) sort a meeting out so we can all get back in our X-Wing fighters and goad the Empire (traffic cops! ;) ) :D sorry, I know I'm a sad F*ck....it's the medication! :D :drink:

Is this a car forum or the friggin Hutton Inquiry? Seems like there' been a general brake down in communication on most people's behalves.... but now it feels like the freakin Spanish Inquisition. Ideas: Throw thorney into a pond, if he floats he's a witch, burn him! If he drowns, he's a witch, burn him! If Thorney sets up a car fan club, he's a witch burn him! If Thorney makes a profit, he's a witch, burn him! If Thorney makes a loss, he's a witch, burn him! If Thorney tries to explain the confusion, it's a spell, he's a witch, burn him! It's all getting very boring now. I don't want to take part in a forum that's descended into five kids beating up one kid, while all around chant Fight! Fight! Fight! :(
