I fitted one of these, it was the smallest and least obtrusive one I could find that wasn't just a single bulb. It's just currently velcro'd to the top of the instrument binnacle. Very easy to fit, just need to tap into the rpm feed in the loom connected to the Stack and also earth it somewhere. I've got it programmed to only come on after 6200rpm, so never see it in usual driving.

I've got a Shift-i. It was fitted by Courtenay when they did my SC conversion as I had been warned that with the SC it was too easy to hit the rev-limiter. It's fitted at the extreme top right of the dash beside the windscreen pillar. I have to say that the SC is so predictable that I rarely find myself watching the shift light, nor am I constantly bouncing off the rev-limiter.

I looked at that Omex one for ages. thumbsup In the end I decided I'd go for the one I linked to, just because all of the programming is done with the one box. Thought it might be a little easier to re-program if I didn't like the way I'd set it up, without removing the dash cover.

Could you just swap em with some Turbo clocks? Because I have a shift light (im sure turbo clocks were put in)..... Its pretty pointless tho, I mean, mite be useful if you were completely deaf.... Or partially blind and could not see the big fcuking needle approaching the big fat red line?

Got a Shift-I, worked great but was unable to make it work with my previous standalone (strange as the rev counter worked just great) Will fit a sexy Motec SLM next...

It's all new to me having the extra rpm to play with after being stuck at 6400rpm (and continually bouncing off the limiter) for the last 18 months because of the fuel pump. Also doesn't help that my new rev limit is at 7200rpm and the valvetrain is only really safe to 7000rpm. So, it's nice to have a little reminder that I've either got some more revs to play with or that they're rapidly running out. Not actually sure the last time I looked at the rev counter or speedo whilst on track, too busy focussing on the next corner and checking mirrors for spackers trying for an overtake in a dodgy place.

I'd suggest you should be looking where you're going and not at the rev counter. :beat: That's why a shift light (or other warning indicator) needs to be in your direct line of sight.

7200 rpm gear changes should be fine thumbsup

I tend to change gear when the power peaks, which on mine is 7600rpm, so I never hit the limiter.... well not often :P

Kewl. We couldn't be bothered to get Stefan to write a new map with a 7k limit, so we just stuck with Joe's map and it's 7.2k limit and only dyno'd it to 7050rpm and I said I'd steer clear. Probably still safer to aim for a 7k change but nice to know it's not in imminent danger of exploding if I get carried away. thumbsup
